As women, we are exploring our sexuality, and exhibiting our sexual identity from a more integrated perspective. We've got our heads involved now. We are thinking about what we are doing. We've got our hearts involved now. We are not allowing feelings to drive us, or deprive us. We are talking more now, about our Mollys and Mabels. We are sharing and comparing notes on how to care for this part of ourselves. How to preserve this aspect of our beings and bodies. How to satisfy our needs as an expression of, and with respect for, who we are as women. We no longer hide our sexuality. Instead, we are exploring and defining it, privately and publicly. We are no longer willing to accept our sexual identity as a "dependant appendage." We no longer limit sexuality to our body parts. We are discovering our sexual nature to be a source of creativity. A well spring of our health, and a source of pleasure for which we are now willing to accept full responsibility in manifesting. Mabel has come into her fullness. She is now known in a very private arena as "Peaches and Cream." She is not just a "Lunchable," she's a full course meal!
As you move through the pages of this book, do not just read the words, feel them. Undoubtedly, they will trigger your own memories of some stories you've been told that you may want to re-write. The stories you will read here may evoke uncomfortable feelings that you may need to come to grips with on your own journey to a deeper understanding and greater appreciation of our sexual identity and nature. From a more practical aspect, you may want to consider that the fullness of sexual expression as orgasm drains your lymph nodes. In women, lymph nodes are actively involved in several forms of cancer. You may not be aware that the enzymes released throughout your body at the height of sexual arousal lubricate your skin. You may find it interesting that the same number of calories you burn with one good, thirty-second orgasm, would take twenty minutes to burn on a treadmill. If that's not enough to convince you that erotic activity and thoughts are good for you, how about the plain old truth that it's pleasurable! It's fun! Most of all, it's private. For all the years of service to others, don't you and Molly or Mabel or Peaches, or V-a-g-i-n-a deserve to have a little fun? Why not relax and enjoy? You'll feel a lot better."-Iyanla Vanzant, from the Introduction

Where love and sex live well together...,
By Claudia (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Best Black Women's Erotica (Best Black Women's Erotica Series) (Paperback)
This book is one I can't seem to keep in my house. I have bought four copies and don't have a single one left...and I just bought them this week. Every person who has browsed it, has sat down and found themselves immersed in its lyricism and raw sensuality. They laugh, they wonder, they smile to themselves, they want more, and they leave my door with book in hand.It is something to give your best buddies male and female, and to share intimately with someone you love. What more can you want from good writing, good literature...good stuff? All of us can't wait for the next edition.

Bring The Spice Back Into Your Life,
By
This review is from: Best Black Women's Erotica (Best Black Women's Erotica Series) (Paperback)
Whether you need to bring the spice back into your life or you want ideas on taking pleasure to another level, this book is for you. Very quick read. I enjoyed all 15 stories. The stories ranged from traditional to not-so-traditional to off-da-hook. The introduction by Iyanla Vanzant was also very well written--a great icebreaker. I recommend this book to anyone with sexual fantasies and/or looking to take their sex life to another level. Don't be afraid...

Sensual Entertainment,

This review is from: Best Black Women's Erotica (Best Black Women's Erotica Series) (Paperback)
Looking for an enjoyable collection of erotic stories written by well-known authors that we have all come to respect? Best Black Women's Erotica is a wonderful book to pique your interest in the erotica.Iyanla Vanzant's introduction takes you down memory lane to a time when we all had a variety of names for the intimate parts of our body. You will truly laugh and smile at some of Iyanla's reminiscing of the antics of her growing up. The selection of erotic stories were good and had you turning pages very quickly to find out what happens next. Zane's "Mergers and Acquisitions" sums up why she is becoming a popular writer of erotic stories. Bertice Berry, Tananarive Due, Renee Swindle, Karen Johnson, just to name a few authors, all had something to say and they said it well. You will enjoy their stories. What was really deep was Nikki Giovanni's "Bring On the Bombs: A Historical Interview." This was definitely something different from the empress of poetry, but it also told me that she could be diversified in her writing. Great work Nikki. Overall, I recommend that you read Best Black Women's Erotica edited by Blanche Richardson. Reviewed by Kalaani
