Schafer defines a blooper as someone inadvertently misspeaking in a public forum. Not a misstatement of facts but an alteration of the syllables or entire words that either render the statement nonsensical or giving it an entirely different meaning. In this book, Schafer has collected some of the funniest ones available and many of them are from celebrities. Some examples are:

*) The following was heard on KNOW radio in Austin, Texas. A sportscaster, while preparing to announce the baseball scores, said . . . "And now, for the gay dames - I mean - the day's games."
*) The disk jockey of radio station KOLO, Reno, Nevada, announced the next number to be played on his program: "A Hard Man is Good to Find."
*) When Astronaut Wally Schirra appeared as a guest for an interview on "Meet the Press," panelist Lawrence Spivak asked: "How does it feel to be in a state of wastelessness?"

While a few are hilarious, all are amusing to the extent that they will generate a grin. This is a nice book to read during quiet, relaxing times.
