5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Book
A fun book, great for irritating bar conversation. Really does have useful information presented in a humorous manner. Entertaining reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT for Children!!!, January 6, 2010
This review is from: The Best Book of Useless Information Ever: A Few Thousand Other Things You Probably Don't Need to Know (But Might as Well Find Out) (Mass Market Paperback)
While the material in these books is lots of fun, this is not a book that should be left lying around where younger readers to get their hands on it.

There are various entries in unexpected parts of the books that touch on sexual acts, some of which are decidedly outside social norms (including references to urine and "water sports", insects and formicophilia); same-sex relations (both positive and negative statements); genitalia; fellatio; and more.

For kids in high school, this may be acceptable, depending on the maturity of the child, but this is certainly not a book that should be left where children in the lower grades can read it without supervision and adult guidance.

5.0 out of 5 stars More useless fun!, November 2, 2008
Did you know squirrels account for over 1 million trees planted per year because they forgot where they buried the nuts? If you like trivial information that is fascinating, this is the book! Purchase the other one as well. I love it as well as my students! There's always a chuckle to be heard when my students read it. I recommend it!

Just as the title implies, generally entertaining but too much emphasis on Movie stars for my taste.

If you're looking for the most random yet interesting info ever, buy this book and the ones similar to it. It's great. I've learned a lot and I like to dazzle my friends with the info I've come across.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, Mostly Useless, But Still Fun, July 6, 2009
This review is from: The Best Book of Useless Information Ever: A Few Thousand Other Things You Probably Don't Need to Know (But Might as Well Find Out) (Mass Market Paperback)
Noel Botham & The Useless Information Society did a marvelously useless job of putting together this interesting, mostly useless, but still fun little book. Granted, some of it got to be a bit tiresome, and it's obvious the gang hails from England, although they did a worthy job of throwing in some baseball tidbits, and whatnot.

The final product is a very worthy effort, and one I found difficult to put down once I got on a roll. Throwing out chunks of useless information is a great way to impress friends & family, not to mention fellow Twitters (@lau56). The object is to get "followers" & this is a nice resource for standing above the crowd; or being deemed off your rocker; and I can live with that.

This book is definitely up my alley, even though they didn't have any bowling trivia in it. Maybe next time, the gang can bone up on other American activities.

4.0 out of 5 stars FUN, FUN AND MORE FUN, September 6, 2008

A fun, interesting book and a good one to have on the kitchen table when you and your friends get to yakking about trivia, or just to start up a conversation. It also answers a lot of questions that you might get from one of your children, or if a teacher (who's expected to know all), from the students. I liked it and would recommend it to others, who appreciate knowing "useless information," like me and my passel of friends, always committed to learning "new stuff."
