A friend recommended this book to me a few months back after I got promoted to management. It was a quick and easy read, and I totally resonated with the ideas the author presented. It's helped me cut out the nonsense and connect more directly with my employees. As per the book's suggestion: instead of taking my employees on a mandatory one day "retreat" which none of us, especially myself, would have enjoyed, I gave them all the day off but told them to meet up for the evening at a bowling ally where work topics were not allowed. My team connected with one another in a way we could not seem to before. I now feel confident that my employees have my back rather than the opposition I see other managers receive at my company. Definitely worth a read!

I very much enjoyed this book as it is not only entertaining and easy to read, but offers hands-on solutions for everyday workplace situations. It reminds us that in times of great decision making, it's still the small things that make a difference - to create a pleasant working environment and satisfied employees/employers.
