4.0 out of 5 stars An impressive debut. A little jazz... a little R&B, May 30, 1998

After hearing 'So good' I was significantly impressed by this raspy voiced diva to make a purchase. The disc has certainly lived up to my expectations. No other way to describe it other than just soft.

Davina demonstrates the rare ability to effectively swing between both the r&b and jazz worlds. She should be around for quite a while.

I'd call this a plug and play CD. No need to skip any tracks. Not all of them are great mind you but all are worth listening to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Davina's CD is timeless...rediscover her, December 8, 2007

I recently rediscovered this cd that I purchased in 1997/1998 as soon as I heard " Come Over..." and it sounds so GOOD ... I will always KEEP her first cd--even if it is on my i-pod, what a talent this young lady is! She has new music and that is why I sought her out to see if it was for sale here. I will definitely buy her new music-TODAY. There are some singers ( like Chrisette Michelle, Joss, Sharon Jones and many UNKNOWN I just hope that they've started a renaissance of GOOD music--Seek them out, they won't be on your AVERAGE radio station as we SEE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does Anyone Remember Davina?, July 6, 2005
This review is from: Best of Both Worlds (Audio CD)
I certainly do, I had the pleasure hearing her brilliantly perform in 2000. I though after hearing her, she has such an insightful vision to be so young. Its a shame she didn't continue to create more heartfelt music. Her style has the resemblence of Jill Scott, Casandra Wilson, Sade, with a definite R&B hook. But this lady unmistakeably holds her own with undeniable style and self-expression, she sings with such sensuality and cool she captures your undivided attention and awe. She definitely sings from the heart and soul. The title track certainly reminds you that you have "Come Over to My Place." If you sing it for "Only One Reason" your fans will be "Comin' for You." Show your love so you can once again say "Give Me Love." This a magnificently awesome CD by Davina. Keeping it real and a great job doing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The bomb cd!!!!!, August 25, 1999
This review is from: Best of Both Worlds (Audio CD)
I truly support a sister who's out there to make it on her own and Davina has done a wonderful job on her debut. She has the flow comparable to artists such as Les Nubians, Grenique, and Adriana Evans. I suggest you pick up all of these if you're a true mellow and jazzy, but not the typical R&B fan. I am a little upset that she has not received proper recognition for her talent. Maxwell didn't blow up until a year after he dropped his first cd and it was ALL of that. All in all, Davina is a "must" for the cd collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is a classic! Must have, August 20, 1999

Davina is one of the best albums of this decade!! It is good to see artist with real talent and not just fancy clothes and cars but no voice (ie Total,Missy Elliott) This is real music all written and arranged by Davina. Oh I forgot, and she kept her publishing rights too! Smart, Very Smart

5.0 out of 5 stars Off the meat rack, June 6, 1998

Davina is the bomb! For a first album she has certainly proved herself to be one of the show stoppers of the year... she has a very raspy.. distinctive sound that makes her so different from all other female artist.. not to mention she produced the album... Go ahead listen for yourself. I'm sure you'd like it. If you like that soft, yet upbeat jazzy type of music that you can pop in when your partner comes over then this is definately it..
