This book is a must read for any woman considering breast augmentation. It addresses every step of the process, from who should consider breast augmentation to how to choose a surgeon to how to tell if you are having complications. Dr. Tebbett's methods prove that you don't have to use tight bandages, drains, and special bras to achieve great results. I never knew a gentler type of breast augmentation existed until I read this book. I actually ended up using Dr. Tebbett's for my surgery and found out for myself the truth behind all of his claims in the book. No woman should consider her breast augmentation research complete until she's read The Best Breast 2.

I am a plastic surgeon who does a lot of breast augmentation, so it is with some authority that I can say that Dr. Tebbetts has contributed more to breast augmentation than any other plastic surgeon in the world. Do a search for scientific articles on breast augmentation, and his name comes up more than all other plastic surgeons combined!

In The Best Breast 2, he distills and translates those articles into understandable English for patients. I ask all of my patients to read it before their consultation.

They say it is a quick read and easy to understand. They all comment that the book is organized intuitively, with important subjects written in bold. Though it has a lot of information, the prose is succinct and can be read quickly. At times it seems repetitive, but I suppose that is necessary so that the chapters can be read independently of one another. Also, the repeated information is critical for patients to know, so it is probably good that certain points are emphasized.

When patients read it before their consultation, the visit is very sophisticated and highly productive. The Best Breast 2 fully informs them about each of the choices that they will need to make about their surgery. I am thrilled when I do a consultation with someone who has read The Best Breast, as we can have a discussion on a very high level, and spend our time discussing the important subjects as well as subtle nuances that are possible with the surgery. I don't have to waste everyone's time correcting common misunderstandings, and the patients know the important issues upon which to focus, the critical decision they have to make, and always ask the most insightful questions.

These patients make better decisions about their surgery. Better decisions means a better operation, less pain, faster recovery, and a better likelihood of having the long-term result that they wanted.

No book or website holds a candle to the quality and presentation of the material in The Best Breast 2.

If "All philosophy is a footnote to Plato," and "All psychology is a footnote to Freud," then "All that is known about breast augmentation is a footnote to Tebbetts." Let the doctors peruse his original scientific papers, but if you read The Best Breast 2, you'll understand breast augmentation better than 99% of plastic surgeons.

I'm so glad that I took the time to read this book!! I went into my consultation with Dr. Tebbetts so well prepared. If there is any question you have ever had about breast augmentation, this is the place to find the answers. Everything you could ever need to know about this procedure is in this book!!! It will help you look at all sides of the question of whether this is the right procedure for you, if it will give you what you are expecting it to give you, and what to expect from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book to anyone considering breast augmentation!

I highly recommend this book for for anyone considering this kind of surgery. I found the info on the internet to be overwhelming and this book organized all of the options, techniques, etc, into a one stop reference. Patient examples, photos, diagrams and glossary of terms is especially helpful.

I purchased and read the first version of this book nearly ten years ago when I was considering augmentation and was impressed at the level of detail. So when I decided earlier this year to look into breast augmentation once again, I immediately got on amazon.com to see if there was an updated version of the book. I was excited to read just how much the procedure and choices had improved in a decade. The book is an invaluable reference tool for any woman considering breast augmentation. It addresses nearly every issue a woman should consider from choosing a surgeon to incision sites to implant options and more. The book is full of detail, but it is laid out in a way that makes it very reader friendly. I was so impressed with the book that I ultimately ended up choosing Dr. Tebbetts as my surgeon. I am one very satisfied customer (of the book, to which I continue to use as a reference post-operatively) and an even more satisfied patient. I cannot stress enough how helpful this book is for educating oneself about breast augmentation.

If you're planning on surgery, you will spend a few thousand dollars, so the small cost of this book is an excellent investment and could help you avoid bad plastic surgery or an unqualified surgeon.

Even if you've done your homework, you'll still learn from this book. It's well-laid out to find what you need quick and lots of diagrams to help you understand sizing and implant options.

The Best Breast 2 was the equivalent of a very long and extensive brochure for the authors' practice.

The book itself does contain some useful information that would actually be helpful in making intelligent decisions around the entire process, but you have to wade through an ocean of promotional materials (repeated extensively throughout) and read carefully. There are many statements that, if read only in the context of the book, make misleading impressions. They do not lie but they word things carefully so that it suggests something else.

For example, "More than 80 percent of our augmentation patients are out to dinner the evening of surgery with no drain tubes, no narcotic pain medications, no bandages, no special bras, and no pain pumps." The context of this statement suggests that Tebbetts and Tebbetts have stumbled upon a new technique or technology that allows for faster recovery. In fact, their method includes instructions to their patients to do so. In other words, they TELL their patients to go out to dinner and to minimise taking pain medication the night of the surgery. It is only much later on in the book that the Tebbetts explain that this approach is taken to reduce the chances of capsular contracture. Based on other readings my partner and I have completed on this subject (including medical texts), this is probably true, but only if you are willing to bear very high levels of pain (which they barely mention).

The authors obviously believe that women considering breast augmentation are extremely gullible. This can be seen in the way that rather than providing information to help us make informed decisions (as they reiterate many times), they have, in fact, attempted to take advantage of such "gullible" women.

Furthermore, although the chapters were heavily referenced, nearly all sources of information were previous works by the authors i.e. "what I say is true because I have said it previously".

This is a very valuable book for any woman who has thought about having breast implants! Luckily I live in the same city as the authors of this book but if you don't its a great tool in figuring out where to start/ what to look for in a surgeon/ what to expect of your implants and what are the myths out there. Some the of material is dated already- such as type of implants you can get as that has changed and cont to change. I got this book so I would be better prepared for my augmentation and this book did provide most of what I needed to know. Getting to that information, however, was a chore. The book is over 500 pages long but contains maybe 150 pages of useful information. The rest is, as another reviewer noted, basically an advertisement for the authors. I could handle that if the book wasn't both paternalistic and redundant. Readers are treated like school girls who need to have their hands held and the same information is repeated over and over and over.
