Editorial Reviews

In this hilarious comedy drama series, join an eccentric group of friends and neighbours as they embark on fun-filled and disaster-prone day trips. With a mix of peculiar personalities all crammed into one vehicle, including a perpetual optimist, a sarcastic womaniser, a cantankerous old geezer, a naïve young fiancé and a snooty businessman, the outings are bound to be lively - and full of criticism, bickering, dirty tricks and chaos!

The Booze Cruise

The "Matey-Boys" cross the English Channel to stock up on cheap booze, but their journey to a French hypermarket hits stormy waters, turning a simple shopping expedition into a bumbling, comic nightmare.

The Treasure Hunt

With their women along for the fun, the gang sets off on a two-day charity treasure hunt. The optimist is determined not to come last for the fourth year running - while the old geezer, equally determined to win, decides it's a huge inconvenience when his wife's mother drops dead in the back of his camper van!

The Scattering

Forced to honour one "Matey-Boy's" late mother-in-law's last wishes to have her ashes scattered on the Yorkshire moors, the simple request turns into one bungled mishap after another - since for this gang, inevitably, nothing goes according to plan!

This review is from: Best of British Comedy: Cheers and Tears (DVD)
A back-door insight into British pop culture and humor. I doubt Winston Churchill would approve -- British pop culture has not improved over the past century -- but we laughed anyway.
