Great British Pop from the Early 80's, November 24, 1999
This review is from: The Best of Bucks Fizz (Audio CD)
Yes, Bucks Fizz were a manufactured group but they had great songwriters/producers like Andy Hill who gave them a highly listenable catchy sound. Though some of the songs from their early albums sound dated, their best material is from the Hand Cut and I Hear Talk albums. (I would love to see these re-released on CD!) Okay, so it still sounds like 80's music but for pure unpretentious pop, Bucks Fizz were the best of their time.

A decade of UK hits, March 14, 2001
This review is from: The Best of Bucks Fizz (Audio CD)
In the US, Bucks Fizz was one of the lesser known of the UK artists in the early-mid eighties. In the UK, they were HUGE. It's too bad they were never popular here, because they had some great songs. This particular CD was a disappointment though. I would have given it a better rating had it included "When We Were Young", "You and Your Heart So Blue", "Rules of the Game" and "New Beginning". I never really cared for "Magical", "Piece of the Action" or "London Town" and with the exception of "Piece of the Action", none of these were as big of hits in the UK as the missing songs they should have included in this compilation. However, it is still a good retrospective of their music, though it sounds very dated now. I am glad the producers of this CD did include "My Camera Never Lies", "Run for Your Life", "One of Those Nights" and "I Hear Talk" as these tracks are among the groups best. Overall a good buy for the price. I Wish someone would release the "Hand Cut" and "I Hear Talk" albums on CD!!!!

The fizz return, WOW, March 14, 2004
This review is from: The Best of Bucks Fizz (Audio CD)
after a ten year plus absense from the pop charts who'd have thought Jay mike cheryl and bobby could have returned with this amazing collection of hits which hasnt aged a bit. It is simply warming listening to these songs again from the opening 'land of make believe' (which was featured on the soundtrack to the never-ending story (my favourite film of all time) to the fan-favourite My Camera Never Lies. The music is timeless, and when compared to modern-day equivilents (steps, Westlife, the s-clubs<all brilliant bands>), you can see what an influential pop group they where in their hey-day. buy it ... what more can i say.
