5.0 out of 5 stars '80's compilation soars
It's about time that the most commercially successful Burritos music sees the light of day on cd. Previously the only material taken from the two hit Burritos albums from the early '80's were demo versions. They were undeniably magnificent but not definitive. Here is a sparse but wholly satisfying compilation which shows just why the first few releases of the John Beland...

3.0 out of 5 stars The missing 14 seconds
I just purchased this CD as I loved "Does She Wish She Was Single Again" only to find the version on the CD is a shortened 2:17 version rather than the 2:31 on the old 45 that I own. I've heard of many cases where an album cut is much longer than the single version released, but this is a first, cutting 14 seconds (a couple of lines) out of an album version.

It's about time that the most commercially successful Burritos music sees the light of day on cd. Previously the only material taken from the two hit Burritos albums from the early '80's were demo versions. They were undeniably magnificent but not definitive. Here is a sparse but wholly satisfying compilation which shows just why the first few releases of the John Beland era struck such a positive chord with country music audiences. Simply put, the music is great. While Beland indeed kept the band's original spirit alive, he wisely updated the vision, resulting in the finest contemporary country music of the time. Songs such as 'She Belongs To Everyone But Me' just have the special Burritos quality but with a commercial edge that all previous lineups lacked in great measure. It is my considered opinion that the Beland releases were the finest in the band's long history, and this collection is as good as any country cd you'll find. If you're a Burritos fan, you MUST have this. If you're a general country fan, you need this. This is actually the Burrito Brothers (the 'Flying' moniker was dropped for several years) but the music flies as high as can be!
