I've Said it Once, I'll Say It Again...., October 15, 2001
This review is from: Best of Chitlin Circuit Soul (Audio CD)
...this is what they are really playing in those little blues joints and roadhouse party spots here in the Good ol' USA.
It looks as if Rhino has another good idea for several volumed compilation, ie, like the In Yo Face funk compilation. Let's hope this ain't the last of this houseblues soul music.
I could say that this misses good ol' blues shack standards like
Aretha Franklin's "Dr. Feelgood", Denise Lasalle's/ZZ Hill's "Down Home Blues" and the flip side of the Clarence Carter cut that IS included here--"Love Me With A Feeling" and Bobby Blue Bland's "Stormy Monday", but with what's included here, I can't complain. Bobby's "Member's Only", Marvin Sease's "Stuck in the Middle","Walking the Backstreets and Cryin'", "Woman to Woman" and Latimore's "Let's Straighten it Out" and more...a perfect blues rocking CD. Thanks, Rhino.

Chitlin Circuit Soul Best Of Southern Blues, May 22, 2003
I lked the different review with various blues artists because I love blues and my hold lifestyle is blues oriented. My favorite blues artist are Johnny Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland, Marvin Sease and Denise LaSalle, B.B. King, Tyrone Davis and all others that sing good blues. I would like to hear the best of southern blues cd that displayed on the computer and give a very good rating of how I liked the album.

Down home, greasy and earthy Southern Soul at its best., September 1, 2011
This review is from: Best of Chitlin Circuit Soul (Audio CD)
This is the music that gets played at bars, cocktail lounges and roadhouse joints throughout the South and Midwest. Artists like Johnnie Taylor, Denise LaSalle, Latimore, Clarence Carter, Shirley Brown, Little Milton, Betty Wright and Marvin Sease (all of whom are{among others} featured here) all became giants of Southern Soul and the songs featured on this collection remain staples of the genre to this day. Enjoy!
