5.0 out of 5 stars Master of the Flugelhorn
Wow, a 2002 Chuck Mangione release with no reviews? That's a real surprise. He can't have fallen from the pop music landscape entirely, I hope. This is an excellent compilation from one of the leading interpreters of mellow, fusion jazz during the '70s and '80s, right up there with Weather Report. The tunes I heard on the radio from this performer were so good that I had to get the CD. Well, the rest of the songs on this CD are not worth listening to. At least that is my opinion. I am sure some listeners out there might like the CD, but I was underwhelmed and expected so much more.

Land of Make believe was a huge hit and got quite a bit of airplay. The inimitable Esther Saddlefield provided the vocals. It's message may sound a bit syrupy these days, but it's still a classic, with it's trademark Mangione slow build and excellent orchestration. The other cuts on the disc will be familiar to Mangione fans and they won't be disappointed with the recording values here. Every instrument comes through with dulcet clarity. This is a very good package at a great price. I hope some Amazon customers give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Compilation!, July 2, 2007

I frankly don't understand some of the negative reviews this CD has received. It's a collection of all original recordings (except for the Hill Where the Lord Hides, taken from the A&M Hollywood Bowl live album), all full length. A thorough overview of Mangione's A&M work, with the added surprise of the Land of Make Believe from the original Mercury album. Super!

4.0 out of 5 stars Chuckus Mangiones, October 29, 2005

This is a great jazz CD and wonderful to lighten to at night or when you want some down time. #5 "Feels So Good" is the best track on the CD. Great for those looking to add Chuck to their collection. Watch "King of the Hill" for Chuck sightings!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chuck Mangione "Feels so Good", September 25, 2007
This review is from: The Best of Chuck Mangione - 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection (Eco-Friendly Packaging) (Audio CD)
Chuck Mangione is definitely one of the very best. This CD is terrific and his classic "Feels So Good" is a MUST. Chuck is a very gifted artist and you will so enjoy his music. Saw him in concert several times in the 70's - can't get enough of his music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great 70's Jazz, November 28, 2011
Listening to "Feels So Good" right now and what a great jazz tune. A bit overplayed in the seventies but after not hearing it for a long time, it's a treat. This is not the single version and that alone makes this a great collection. Also included is the full versions of "Land of Make Believe," Children of Sanchez," and "Hill Where the Lord Hides." "Hide and Seek" is a great fusion tune and "Chase the Clouds Away," is a mellow classic. All in all a good collection of Classic 70's Jazz. He plays with really talented musicians as well. 4 stars of solid jazz.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Poor Compilation!!!!!!!!!!!, June 30, 2004
By A Customer
Don't get me wrong, there isn't a bigger Chuck Mangione fan than me, but all the songs here have been used in other compilations. As a true Mangione fan, there's no reason to buy this album. I have them all on cd and they're all on the same best of, like Best Of Chuck Mangione. This album was just a way for this music company to make money. If you're new to CHuck Mangione, than go ahead, this is a great album to buy, but the order and the material has already been released on previously released best of's and CHuck Mangione albums

4.0 out of 5 stars Smooth-As always, November 3, 2006
Great CD. There are 2 songs on there I had always heard Mangione play on the fluglehorn but on this compilation, they are vocals. Those songs are, the land of make believe and the children of sanchez. That was a disappointment. But all in all, great cd. I love Chuck Mangione.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Non-Original Recordings, June 14, 2007
By
Tracks "Feels so Good" and "Give It All You Got" are not the original recordings, they are inferior (of course) re-workings. Stick with previous CD releases.
