Cirque du Soleil are revolutionaries in the performing arts world. They have stood up and presented something fresh and new to the world, the world loves them for it, as do I. Essentially, they basically mix together performing styles of all around the world and mix them with exciting new visions. The end product is a dazzling spectacle of circus, acrobatics, dancing, makeup, costumes, set, and lights. And of course, music. Though only the music is a poor substitute to actually seeing the shows, the composers have made a fantastic job of making sure the music can stand on its own. And not only stand on its own, but reflect the actual shows themselves through the music. While listening, you can almost see the complex makeup, and the flourishing colors. Indeed, one who knows nothing about Cirque du Soleil can certainly hear the colors of the music itself as expressed through instrumentation, harmony, pitch, melodys, and percussion. This is the best way to start listening to Cirque du Soleil. Simply buying one of their albums is great, but their shows are themed, thus there are a range of different sounds that you may not hear based on the fact you only have one album. This album combines their sounds into a rich mixture of tracks from their best shows. I reccommend this.

I didn't buy this cd off of Amazon, at a Borders Store actually. But anyway this cd is absolutely amazing with a 14 selection of absolutely breathtaking performances and compositions from the world renowned Performance Show known as Cirque Du Soleil. With spellbounding varieties of music on this cd from the show. It's an absolutely worthy CD to buy. Hands down--you'll love it! Just buy it and hear it for yourself!

There are some stunning tracks on this cd and even though this is a best of cd i would further recommend the purchace of each individual show, such as Varekai or Alegria as there are some beautifully rich songs that the best of doesnt include.
If you like Cirque du Soleil your going to love this music if you dont i expect you wont.
Its not headbanging i would put it more into the easy listening bracket and yet some tracks have a pretty rocking up there tempo and very alive beat to them. Go on treat yourself.

I purchased this cd after watching several Cirque du Soleil performances on the Bravo channel. I was taken with the artistry and beauty and felt that a significant part of the allure of these shows was the music that the action was set to. However, I was sad to find out that the music truly can not stand on its own. It is bland and without energy when you don't have a lively show with energietic performers to watch at the same time. My favorite of the songs and the only one that is really worth mentioning is Alegria, however, the singer voice is rough and doesn't have the fancifull sound that I remembered from the performance.
Overall- a disappointing purchase.

You could listen to all the best songs from Cirque du Soleil! Even you never watch its shows, you will be attracted to buy the tickets once you listen it the songs!

Cirque always has the most magnificent musicians. Always outstanding! This cd takes some of the best from different programs and combines them into one experiance. It is a great compilation that has been done in the wonderfully unique Cirque way!

I saw Saltimbanco for my birthday- it was AMAZING! Even the music was wonderful! So, I bought the CD and love it. It takes me back to the show and is inspiring, uplifting, and beautiful.

Musical choices were poor. There are better songs that they could have chosen for this album. Eight out of the twelve songs were good, especially the first song, Egypte. Color photo's are great, but do not be mislead by the photo's when choosing this album.

If you have ever seen Cirque du Soleil in person this cd is a must have. The music is as wonderful as their performances.

I was very disappointed! The music was easy listening and balad type, not fast paced, boom boom, "raz a ma taz", and interesting like I'm thinking circus sounds should be!! Yes, the sounds are very good, just not what I was expecting!!! Probably will not listen to it a second time!!!!
