I bought this book when I saw that my piano teacher has one.

Back to the Fake book, if you can play using chords and like to learn new ones, this book, as well as most of the other FAKE books, will be for you!

If the latter describes you, steer clear, for you will surely be disappointed.

An awesome book with literally hundreds of Christian songs!!!
Everything from Amy Grant to dcTalk to BeBe and CeCe.
If you are wanting a good songbook to learn how to play some of your favorite Christian songs (mostly from the mid-to-late '90's and before) then get this book!!!!
My only regret is that it is mainly songs of an adult contemporary/soft pop/praise&worship genre, whereas I enjoy music that's a little heavier... That and the fact that the book is so big I have a hard time keeping it on my keyboard's music stand. :)
Music notes are small but clear, lyrics are easy to read and the indexes and guitar chord chart are all great.
Overall, an excellent book. :)

The other reviewer (Rob) clearly doesn't understand the concept of a fake book. This book, as he said, has the lyrics, guitar chords and melody line--that's the definition of a "fake book"--fake books are designed for you to improv. They are not supposed to have full orchestrations or harmony lines. The whole term "fake book" comes from the old saying, "If you hum a few bars I can fake it." Most praise bands and worship teams use either this kind of "fake sheet" or they use "charts," which don't even include the melody line--just the lyrics with the chord changes above them.

So, having said that, I can confidently assure you that this series of Christian fake books published by Hal Leonard is very good and an excellent value. Each book has a plethora of songs in a wide range of tempo, styles and genres. Definitely worth many times the asking price for the musician who plays by chords or improv. Definitely NOT for people who only know how to play from sheet music. If the latter describes you, steer clear, for you will surely be disappointed. You don't want a fake book. If, however, you fall into the former category, you can't go wrong here!

I bought this book when I saw that my piano teacher has one. The chords of this book is very challenging. I bought another title, The Praise and Worship fake book...some of the songs are the same but the chords in the latter one is simpler, more root chords such as Cm, Fm, etc....This book has got more difficult ones such as Cm7b5, Fm11, etc....

But it's quite enjoyable to try some different stuff.

I have only been playing the guitar for about seven months. To me Fake Books are a God send. They enable me to play songs that I enjoy without having to read music or playing chords that are above my level.

I have also found that these books have helped me to learn additional chords plus since I am playing songs that I enjoy they have sharpened my playing ability (note reading, knowledge of chords, chord changes, etc.).

I have personally found that I am very satisfied playing what is written (chords or melody line). At times I do improvise and at times I play the melody line and fill in with chords.

I have also used these books when being accompanied by someone on keyboard or piano.

Every person should get and use Fake Books. A great simple way of playing the songs that we all enjoy, whether secular or Christian.

I play guitar and sing in a contemporary Christian band at church. We have used the WOW books for a long time. They are good, however, every song is 10-12 pages long (a LOT of page turning). This book is great. Although the songs are not "arrangements", just the main melody parts of each song, they are , at most, 2 pages each!! This is a God-send and they sound true to each original and are relatively easy. This is a great book!! Buy it ...now!! :)

Good selection of songs written up to about 2000 (any fake book is unlikely to have the latest). Although some hits are missing and there are some more obscure songs in there, it's very useful. (But if you don't know how to play from a fake book, look elsewhere for full scores.)

As I remember, songs are laid out such that it is unnecessary to turn pages in the midst of a song.

Comb binding is large enough that pages turn easily. It should be rather durable. (I own other fake books with similar bindings that have been too tight (skimping?): one has lost it's back cover, pages don't turn well in another so I hate to use it.)

This was exactly as presented. arrived in a flash. Please note that this book is NOT a FULL SCORE. It is a "band book" with chords and words! Great selection of old and new songs!
