Jingle all the way, November 26, 2004
This review is from: Best of Cool Yule (Audio CD)
This is a pretty good collection of rockin' stocking stuffers. There are a few well known songs here, but most of them are pretty hard to find. This CD is out of print, but it's not too hard to find a cheap used copy of it. It is worth buying. Here is the track listing:
1. Papa Noel - Brenda Lee
2. (I Want a) Rock and Roll Guitar - Johnny Preston
3. Presents For Christmas - Solomon Burke
4. Santa's Got a Brand New Bag - Gary Walker
5. White Christmas - The Drifters
6. Merry, Merry Christmas Baby - Dodie Stevens
7. Santa Claus is Coming to Town - The Harmony Grits
8. Santa Claus, Santa Claus - James Brown
9. Christmas in the Congo - The Marquees
10. Sleigh Ride - The Ventures
11. Rockin' Santa Claus - The Martels
12. Merry Christmas Baby - Ike & Tina Turner
13. Santa Claus - The Sonics
14. There's Trouble Brewin' - Jack Scott
15. Silent Night - Huey "Piano" Smith & the Clowns
16. Please Come Home For Christmas - The Uniques
17. Christmas is My Time of Year - Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz & Peter Tork
18. Yulesville - Edward "Kookie" Byrnes

One of the better Christmas CD mixes out there, November 23, 2009
This review is from: Best of Cool Yule (Audio CD)
I originally bought this CD when it WAS in print in the early 1990's locally but a few years ago, something gouged the CD to the point of no return so went without for a season before finding a used copy here on Amazon.
I just love this CD and all that is contained therein. This has one of the best rockin' renditions of "Merry Christmas Baby" by Tina and Ike Turner from the late 60's, that despite the OK sound quality of the original recording, it still rocks w/ that R&B/Soul sound.
As the one other reviewer has indicated, no bad trackss as Rhino does an excellent job of their mix CD's and do an excellent job IMO of transtering old analog sources to CD and I have many of their products and find them all to be well done and this CD does not disappoint.
If there is one gripe, is that this CD is now no longer in print, but that may largely be due to copyright law more than anything but still, worth picking up used as they are not expensive and can be readily found if you look around.
