Other Better ... -- Books,

This review is from: 101 of the Best Corporate Team-Building Activities We Know (Paperback)
Although I discovered some new ideas, I may have allowed my positive Karl Rohnke bias to inflate my rating of this book. I have most of the books Karl has written and co-authored. I was fortunate to attend a High-Five adventure training where he asked, "How much is a good idea worth?" Great question. I had no answer. If I were asked the worth of this book, I'd answer, "About half of what I paid." Of the more than 30 adventure-based, resource books on my shelf, there are many I would recommend before this choice. It seems like the price skyrockets whenever the word "corporate" is added to a title. If only the quality increased proportionately. Missing is Karl's unique personal and pleasant writing style. The diagrams and illustrations are helpful, but rather simplistic. Bottom line: I'd recommend you keep searching if you're purchasing your first resource book. If you have good collection of books and $... to spend, this is an average book with some new and interesting twists.

GREATEST HITS COLLECTION - Redefined for business trainers,

This review is from: 101 of the Best Corporate Team-Building Activities We Know (Paperback)
First of all I have to admit to being a Karl Rohnke "fan" - so I am a bit biased. When you team up two expereinced, talented, and creative individuals - such as Simon Priest and Karl Rohnke - you would expect a "tool kit" filled with valuable gems that have been refined for the corporate setting. That's just what you get. The book cover a wide range of adventure activities and initiative problems, already set to various business metaphors. You'll recognize the classics (like "Group Juggle") as well as "games" from "Silver Bullets", "QuickSilver", "Feeding the Zircon Gorilla" and many of your favorite activity books. Who knows, you may even rediscover some old, familiar activities that you've haven't used in a while. This is a Great Resource Book When Planning and Designing a Facilitation Effort or a Training Event.
