4.0 out of 5 stars A good compilation from a great band, July 19, 2001

Despite the album's title, Sarabands (the band's other hits compilation on Cleopatra) is a much stronger and more consistent album. However, this is still a rather good compilation of tracks from Corpus Delicti's brilliant career.

Ranging from powerful goth rock tracks with atmospheric guitars to dark goth rock ballads to foreboding slow-paced keyboard fare, this album is full of emotive male vocals, powerful processed guitars, driving drums, and atmospheric keyboard touches. Standout tracks include "the awakening", "dancing ghost", and "lies spoken". The album is also home to a decent cover of Joy Divion's "Atmosphere".

If you're new to Corpus Delicti, I would recommend picking up Sarabands first. It's a much more solid and compelling collection of songs. However, if you already have Sarabands, then by all means buy this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars A good compilation, June 23, 2005
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
Sarabands was my first introduction to this band on the old Gothic Rock II compilation. Having found that, I also found this gem. Since I have not had this album for sometime, I can't write a really strong review, other than the fact that several tracks, Dust and Fire particularly had a deep impact on me and I loved the whole thing. Best of Corpus Delecti is an excellent place to find some tracks you like, then track down the album it's on and possibly add it to your collection, or to simply have an overall feel for some of the band's earlier work previos to Sarabands.
