Well, what a wonderful collection of songs all bundled up neatly in one CD. All the hits are here, while most are in it's initial album version format, some are edited, some are remixed, some are live versions to provide variation. 2.0 out of 5 stars Corrs
Forgot how "dry" and botingly simulare their music could be, a couple goodsongs, but sound tracks and voice is too much the same.

Well, what a wonderful collection of songs all bundled up neatly in one CD. All the hits are here, while most are in it's initial album version format, some are edited, some are remixed, some are live versions to provide variation. Withs songs from each and every album they have released contributing to this album, it's a very fair representation of the Corrs. Coming out of the their debut album "Forgiven, Not Forgotten" are "Runaway", "Forgiven, Not Forgotten", "Love To Love You", "The Right Time" and "Erin Shore" which is an unreleased instrumental track. From their "Talk On Corners" CD came "Only When I Sleep", "I Never Loved You Anyway", "Dreams", "What Can I Do" and "So Young". Out of their "Unplugged" CD came "Radio" and their REM cover "Everybody Hurts". And from their last CD "In Blue", came "Breathless", "Irresistible", "Give Me A Reason" and "All The Love In The World". Along with this best of CD comes two new tracks "Would You Be Happier" the leading single and "Make You Mine". If you are interested, try searching for the Australian edition of this CD as you get an extra track titled "Lifting Me" which brings the total to 19 tracks. But this collection is good enough. Also watch out for the new "Live In Dublin" CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely "Best Of", October 17, 2002

This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
Have you ever bought a 'greatest hits' album only to find it swimming in filler tracks? Fear not, discouraged music listener! This record reflects its title; it IS the best of the Corrs.

In 1995, the Irish siblings released their first single, 'Runaway', and the music world was forever changed. Suddenly, tin whistles, bodhrans, and violins were playing alongside drum sets and electric guitars in some of the most beautifully-crafted songs ever recorded.

All of the albums are well-represented on this collection. The early works from "Forgiven Not Forgotten" are here, from the gentle 'Runaway' to the dark 'Forgiven Not Forgotten'. Smash "Talk On Corners" adds classics such as the vivid 'Only When I Sleep', the sexy 'I Never Loved You Anyway', the gentle 'What Can I Do' and the youth anthem 'So Young'. The MTV "Unplugged" comes in with the melancholy 'Radio', as well as two live tracks, the instrumental 'Lough Erin Shore' and the touching cover of REM's 'Everybody Hurts'. "In Blue" is here as well, featuring the radio sensation 'Breathless' and the brilliant 'Give Me A Reason'.

As well as their past hits, the Corrs present fans with two new songs, both worthy of 'best of' status. 'Will You Be Happier?', a hit single in Europe, is about the uphill battle for perfection, while the catchy 'Make You Mine' is about the wait for love.

Few bands can accumulate so many hits in such a short time span (six years). The Corrs, however, are, as always, the exception. Every song here is a destined to be a classic, and some are already. Want a great sampling of the Corrs' music? This is it. Fillers not included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mix of songs, must get for someone new to the Corrs, June 20, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
There are some amazing best of CDs. John Hiatt's the AM years and Mirrorball come to mind. Now I only have 2 other Corrs CDs, Forgiven not Forgotten and Live in Dublin and there are many overlaps between those 2 and the songs here, but I am still very glad I bought this CD. ...

So what do you get? First you get 72 minutes worth of songs. You get a marvelous version of Everybody Hurts. I have come to realize that Andrea could sing Mary Had a Little Lamb or the Spam song from Monty Python and it would sound wonderful. I like the version they have of So Young and the Radio version is very good. Every song on the CD is fantastic. And just like Mirrorball for me (although I bought another Sarah McLaughlin CD afterwards) if this is your first Corrs CD it is likely to become one of your favorite CDs ...

Other favorites are Runaway, still the definitive Corrs song in my mind, I Never Really Loved You Anyway, Love to Love You, What Can I Do. The booklet comes with numerous photos....but they are all very small. I liked the pics of posters of shows and tickets from shows. Also if you have ever seen the video for I Never Really Loved You Anyway it has a very funny ending when they switch instruments and mimic trying to play them. They have a couple of photos from that part of the video. If you have some Corrs CDs but not all then you should get this and if you have no Corrs CDs this is a MUST get, it will Leave You Breathless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great collection, May 20, 2002
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
The Corrs are an Irish group that broke through in the UK with their unique fusion of Celtic and pop music. Unfortunately, despite a surge of popularity around the period of their hugely successful `Talk On Corners' album, the group have simply been unable to shake the `easy listening' tag that has assured that their success has become much more limited. This is a shame, especially given the high quality music on offer here.

Starting off with the brand new `Would You Be Happier' (also a single), nice little guitar-driven pop songs seems to be the Corrs' speciality. Whilst it's true that the group's later material isn't nearly as good as their earlier music, the songs here nearly all sparkle. In particular, the dreamy yet understandable vocals of lead singer Andrea Corr are gorgeous, especially on the Fleetwood Mac cover 'Dreams'. Although almost every song is a love song, the majority remain separate from each other for a variety of reasons. For instance, the remix of `What Can I Do?' makes it a great deal edgier and therefore more interesting and the forlorn `Forgiven Not Forgotten' from the group's first album is a real stand-out. However, by far the best track here is the delightfully bitter `I Never Loved You Anyway', even if the best song the group has ever done - `Queen Of Hollywood' - isn't included.

Even though the newer tracks never match the standard that the songs from the earlier albums set, this is still remarkably consistent and is definitely to be recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, November 12, 2001
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
Now this is what a greatest hits cd sould be. THE BEST OF THE CORRS is an excellent compilation of their best hits. Actually it includes most of the singles that they've released through out the years. THE BEST OF THE CORRS also includes remixes and live versions of some of their hit songs -- plus 2 new tracks! That makes this collection even better. Andrea Corr (lead vocals) comands each song very well and the rest of the siblings play instruments and sing back-up. The album flows very well. THE BEST OF THE CORRS is an awesome pop/rock must-have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now this is what you call REAL music, May 31, 2002
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
Since this is a best hits collection, I'm doing this review for all those who haven't gotten a single album from The Corrs. (You living under a bed rock or something??) The Corrs' unique Irish pop music is simply supernatural...and why not? These talented siblings from Ireland compose, play and sing their own songs. Before, I was already expecting (and hoping as well) that they would release their best hits collection....Thanks God they did.

From the 18 tracks, 3 songs are remix versions. Trust me, the original versions are much better than the remix ones. Even so, I'm giving them 5 stars for this (must have been a 4.5). The best Corrs' song for me will always be "Runaway". This love song shows Andrea's soothing voice and the remarkable tinkling of the piano. The second one will be "Radio". It's a good thing that the unplugged version of "Radio" is included here; I don't prefer the "Radio" version from their In Blue album. Caroline's natural drumming is present in this song. Speaking of unplugged songs, they also included an acoustic cover of "Everybody Hurts" and the poignant "Lough Erin Shore" (Of their instrumental tracks, I like "Toss the Feathers" best). There are also their first classic releases, "I Never Loved You Anyway", the plaintive and memorable tune of "Only When I Sleep" and "Dreams". "Give Me A Reason" is like another rendition of the positive-sounding "Breathless". However, I enjoy listening to Sharon's violin solo there. "Irresistible" is a unique modern pop song which talks about admiration.

Other songs which make up this beautiful collection are "Forgiven Not Forgotten" and "Would You Be Happier". If I can change some songs in here, I'd change the remix versions and replace "Lough Erin Shore" with "Toss the Feathers" and add "At Your Side" (another unplugged song). Still, this is a good album and I bet that you're all gonna enjoy their music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic for any Corrs Fan!, July 11, 2002

If you love them, or you're new to them, this is the album for you. For you seasoned fans like myself, this album is just a reminder of The Corrs' amazing career of breathtaking music. It will bring back memories of Forgiven Not Forgotten, Talk on Corners, and the recent In Blue. They've put their best songs on here, and it's worth every cent. To me, every song The Corrs have ever made is a gem, but here, you'll get those #1 hits like "So Young", "Breathless", and the absolutely unforgettable "Runaway", which ultimately launched The Corrs.

If you're new to The Corrs, I recommend buying this one. Once you do, you'll venture out and buy FNF, TOC, and IB as well. This will give you a bit of a "summary" of the past few years. You'll be a self-proclaimed Corrs fanatic in no time! ;)

Inside the CD booklet, you'll see a collection of stuff from the old days, you'll also see pictures of all of the CD single covers, along with the dates of when they were released. Really cool!

The Corrs have stunned many with their music, and this just reminds all of us fanatics just how fantastic their career has been, and what they have given to all of us. This is a gift to us. A gift from The Corrs to the fans. Cheers! ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece 'Best Of' Compilation, July 4, 2005
By
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
The Corrs do nothing more or less than simply amaze me with their pure ability to capture the listener's soul and hold it in a tight rapture. I brought this CD at a second hand music dealer and it's a Australian release with 19 tracks and the bonus tracks of 'Lifting Me' and the previously unreleased 'Make You Mine'. The classic hit songs are mixed with the unreleased songs and also mixed in with this wonderful CD are several remix songs like 'All The Love in The World' and 'What Can I Do' which are two remixes that are on par with their original counter-pieces.

This CD has helped me in a time where I have had several family problems and Andrea Corr's voice has given me hope and the belief in being strong and carrying on. This Album is for everyone new Corrs fan's or old fans of The Corrs. Even if you are looking for good pop music with Gallic flavour this is the CD for you. This band is a masterpiece.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just What You Would Expect It To Be.....Great!, September 19, 2004

I don't see how people can review a "best of" album and totally trash it. These songs are exactly what made the Corrs famous. I am from the US, and unfortunately we don't get enough musicians like the Corrs around here to show everyone what good music is. That said, onto the album. I happen to own this cd with a "bonus" bonus track after "Make You Mine", called "Lifting Me" - and I have to say that this is an excellent compilation of the Corrs' work. I gave it 4 stars, however, because a few of my favourite tracks (the instrumentals "Toss the Feathers" and "Paddy McCarthy") did not make it on here. Oh well! I keep it in my cd player all the time and would recommend it to anyone, but mostly to people who have not had the pleasure of listening to the Corrs' earlier works. Some standout tracks include "Would You Be Happier?" (I love this song on the "VH1 Presents the Corrs Live in Dublin" disc), "Forgiven Not Forgotten", and "Only When I Sleep". All in all, a great cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Best Of The Corrs" Lives Up To Its Title., September 13, 2003

This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
"The Best of The Corrs" is a definitive collection of hits from the Irish family band. Although The Corrs have only had mild success in the U.S., they have had an endless string of Number One hits and million selling albums internationally. The Corr siblings consisting of sisters Andrea, Sharon and Caroline and brother Jim display a natural talent and an incredible gift for upbeat melodic songwriting. The band's Irish roots come across as well especially in Sharon's violin playing.
"The Best of The Corrs" includes 16 of The Corrs biggest hits including their first smash "Runaway", their two U.S. chart hits "So Young" and "Runaway", unplugged renditions of "Radio" and R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts" plus an additional three new tracks, "Make You Mine", "Lifting Me" and the peppy "Would You Be Happier?"
This CD is an excellent introduction to The Corrs music. Unfortunately, "The Best of The Corrs" has yet to receive a U.S. release and is only available as an import. The good news is that it's worth every penny. The Corrs are an extraordinary pop group with some very positive music. Take one listen to this CD and it'll brighten your entire day.
