The story is all here but it lacks the feel it sould because they chose to save money on printing the book.

This book is crap. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to own all of these issues in one book and be able to read them, but this is just crap. The paper is CHEAP stock, there IS NO COLOR in a book that is meant to be color, it is all black and white. You have a hard time making out the art and I cannot stress how cheaply made this horrible book is. My kid brother could do better with a 20 year old black and white copy machine. I am incredibly disappointed and I urge NO ONE to spend their hard earned money on this shoddy book.

This was made so cheaply, and lacks color, apart from the cover of it. The cover acted merely as a ruse for me to buy this book, thinking that ll of the issues would be in color, but I just opened up my package to find that this spawn collection has no color! I am dissapointed. I did pay a small amount for this, however, so I am not unhappy with my purchase. At least I can read what happens in each of the issues; I own some anyways, including the ones that this collection excluded from its contents.

Now before I begin, let me stress that this rating has absolutely no bearing on The Curse of Spawn series itself, yet this collection of it. Take the title of this review to heart, they took this collection of issues of this series, and reprinted them, without color, on the cheapest, grainiest paper they could find. For a series that is meant to be printed in full color, this is a huge let down. This isn't only a problem for aesthetic reasons, but also functionality. Without color the pages just look confusing and everything seems to blend together. I have nothing against black and white, but this isn't Sin City (A series intended for black and white) This is Spawn, and when you take the color out of the pages, it simply just looks unfinished, cheap, and unreadable. I only paid $10 for this book, and I should acknowledge that I'm writing this review with that in mind. That should say something. If you want to read The Curse of Spawn series I recommend buying the 4 individual volume collections(Printed in full color), and buying all other issues that are missing from these volumes individually.

I found the artwork and printing and the paper it is printed on to be of very poor quality. After the excellent spawn books this was a huge dissapointment. The quality is so poor and the pages so cluttered that I could not read it. The book gave me a headache. I hope this gets a reprint but until then you really must try it before you buy it.

I should have read the other reviews for this book before I purchased it. After buying the collected volumes in the regular Spawn series, I saw little concern that I wouldn't enjoy this book. To my surprise when I opened it, I found the pages were all printed in black and white ink on cheap paper. I am one to appreciate the values of black and white comic books, but the art drawn for the curse of spawn series is intended for color. In plain black and white ink, a lot of the images are difficult to make out, and a lot of the original detail of the art is lost. It really is a damn shame.
I really wouldn't recommend this book for anyone, even black and white comic enthusiasts. This is simply just a poor cheap cop out printing of what should be a decent comic collection book.
