4.0 out of 5 stars Cutting the way
Usually the biggest problem with greatest hits collections is that something is left off. Not so with The Best of The Cutting Crew. Leave it to an import disc to get it right. Not only are there 2 versions of (I Just)Died In Your Arms, but all the others are there too. Proving that lyrics are important the cd is also heavy on guitars and synthesizers, but they don't...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK as Greatest Hits Packages Go
Track 13 of this issue is "(I Just) Died In Your Arms Tonight" (Extended Remix). Fans should be advised that the "extended" bit is actually a mere 6 seconds and the "remix" is, for the most part, indiscernible from the single. It is NOT the original extended version that we all loved when it was released back in '87. Rip Off.

Not only are there 2 versions of (I Just)Died In Your Arms, but all the others are there too. Proving that lyrics are important the cd is also heavy on guitars and synthesizers, but they don't over power the vocals. Songs like Fear of Falling and Everything But My Pride display strong vocals while One For The Mockingbird and the soulful I've Been In Love Before remind us why the 80's were such a strong decade in music. This is a must have for any fan of Duran Duran, Mr. Mister, and other big bands of that decade.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Cutting Crew STILL have it (& always did)............., July 23, 2004
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
I would like to say that if any 80's fans enjoy the great memories that decade produced, this is a Greatest Hits to help keep those memories alive. I would first like to correct the "Farshid Arjomandi" review a bit. The entire band disbanded(went on to other things) after the "Scattering" album leaving Nick Van Eede & Kevin MacMichael to take the reins (no pun intended) as Christopher Neil of Mike & The Mechanics fame would go on to produce Compus Mentus(the last "out of print" Cutting Crew album). The only song making an appearance from that album is "If Thats The Way You Want It" which finds the band more mature and in-tune as they ever have been. There are also 2 Non-Album tracks here, Christians & Contact High(both from the "Scattering" sessions). Added in with hits like "One For The Mocking-Bird", "(I Just) Died In Your Arms" + the Remixed version, "The Scattering", "I've Been In Love Before", "Any Colour", and "Everything But My Pride", this album finally shows that a "Greatest Hits" package can be worth the price. It is also a fitting tribute to Kevin MacMichael himself as he has passed on since the final album and his time spent with Robert Plant's (of Led Zepplin fame) solo effort "Fate Of Nations" album and tour. May he "Rest In Peace". I highly recommend this album to all who still find themselves "Lost In The 80's" while living in today. This is the Cutting Crew at its best. Go ahead, you know you want to have it..........you've earned it, and it is worth EVERY penny. PEACE 2 ALL!!!! :) :) The 80's STILL RULE!!!! :) :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Get new version of this CD on other page instead, September 26, 2011
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
I hate when Amazon sellers charge an outrageous price for something that's out of stock. I like ordering from Amazon, but I thought they didn't have the CD I wanted. I guess they don't have this old version of the "best of" CD, but who cares, they have the CD I got, the new version (2003 copyright) of the "best of" for only $10.45. I didn't know that because when I clicked on the link to go from Mp3 to CD format it goes to this old "best of" page. So I ended up buying the new "best of" for about $12 on BestBuy.com, which is a good price (though cheaper here on Amazon). I hate when Amazon doesn't have any track listings or sound samples either. But anyways, don't buy any CD that is over $20, that isn't really rare. I'm sure you could get a cheaper, better, remastered version, somewhere else. So don't buy this old version of the "best of" for like $30 from some rip-off seller, when you can get the new version of the "best of" for only about $10, like every CD cost.

I like this band, I think they're underrated. The songs sound 80's style (as they should), but more smooth yet a bit more rockin' than some others from the 80's.

This is a Fantastic 80's group, the Cutting Crew. I always enjoyed this type of music, while enjoying the 1980's music generation...All the tracks are excellent, and definitely well worth the cost, while revisiting my favorite era in music. A solid choice for music lovers of this genre, Enjoy!!!
