The Best of Damon Knight
Barry N. Malzberg, Editor Pocket Books, 1976 ISBN: 0-671-83375-8 "Knight is a man of stature and quality, a writer of importance, and a writer whose works will be a new and perhaps jarring experience for many people who were not around when this oeuvre was being built block by block over the decades." - Barry M. Malzberg In The Best of Damon Knight we see just how easy it is for science fiction, fantasy and horror to be considered as interchangeable. If you truly love speculative fiction, and you want to explore what it means to you, I heartily recommend that you find a copy of this book and read it with care. You'll be entertained, and you'll learn a lot. Note: I compare his works to writers like Neil Gaiman and Ray Bradbury. Copyright © Clayton Bye, 2009

some of the stories kind of "drag" ('Mary', 'Cabin Boy') some could have been fleshed out a little ('the Big Pat Boom', 'Backward, O Time') but some of them are GREAT ('Not With a Bang', 'Thing of Beauty', 'Babel II', 'Man In The Jar').

Damon Knight had a varied career in SF, but is probably best know for his short fiction. This collection features selections from his earliest appearance ("Not With a Bang") to his then-current (1980's) work (the compelling "Masks"). Highly recommended.
