Pack the Best Data MP3-64 Cabo 64 MP3 player for the beach or a road trip. It stores about an hour of near-CD-quality MP3 files with its 64 MB of built-in memory and is expandable up to 96 MB when using a 32 MB SmartMedia memory card. Its LCD screen indicates song title, artist, and playing time of each MP3 track as well as battery life, mode, and function key status.

The Cabo 64 features a built-in microphone, enabling you to record up to four hours of voice recordings. It also stores up to 250 telephone numbers so you can access your contacts wherever you take your music.

I bought this product 2 months ago and its been flawless so far the software is incredible and and very stable and so easy to use my brother who doesn't know anything about computers was able to use it. the size is incredible and is very small, the phone book is a very usefull feature. The sound quality is excellent and the headphones are exeptional.

I just received this product today and I am listening to it now. My experience is as follows:

1) Installed software and connected unit. Software would not recognize the player. 2) Reconfigured parallel port for ECP. Followed documentation exactly. Unit still not recognized. Tested port - port OK. 3) Called BestData support and after being disconnected several times I was told it would cost ... to find out why it wasn't working. Paid ... to have tech read the manual to me and tell me to download the latest software. 4) Downloaded software - didn't help. Went to BestData site ... to find my answer buried in a FAQ. A step not in the documentation and unknown to the tech support person, "You must click on the File menu and choose Connect And List before you can transfer files to the Cabo. " Also, make sure the "HOLD" button is off when attempting to activate the unit. 5) Finally got unit to download files. Surprisingly quick for a parallel connection.

Once I got it working, I was impressed with it overall. I've been listening for several hours and the battery indicator still shows fully charged. Holds 12 songs and sounds excellent to me. Highest volume hurts my ears! Very light and somewhat cheap feel to the case but for ... with the rebate, it appears to be the best deal around on a 64MB unit. Don't bother calling tech support, just muddle through the inept documentation as best you can.

well, i bought a cabo just because, well, it's cheap, and it has 64 megs of memory. i figured that at the worst, i could just return it if i was unhappy. unhappy is definitely what i was.

the cabo isn't a horrible player, but it lacks a lot against new products like the rio 500. the main concern is upgradability. there really is none with the cabo. you accept the 64 megs you get, end of story.

the other problem is the lcd display. a non backlit lcd really hurts your enjoyment of the unit in the dark, and it's pretty standard on most new players.

on the good side, the sound quality is decent, and the headphones are very good for factory, but still, save up and buy a rio 500. leave the cabo for the bargain bins.
