Debbie is best remembered as an actress, but she had a major transatlantic hit, Tammy, which opens this short but high quality collection. Indeed, it is the only reason I bought this collection as British label Jasmine released a twofer that contains most of the songs here and many more besides.

The songs are generally taken from the Great American Songbook, though Debbie occasionally recorded country songs here too, adapting them to her own style. Am I that easy to forget (Skeeter Davis) provided Debbie with an American top twenty pop hit. Among the classic songs included here are Moonglow, Hooray for love and Time after time.

This collection is dominated by love ballads, but not limited to them, as Aba daba honeymoon demonstrates. If you enjoy music by Peggy Lee, Julie London, Jeri Southern and others like them, give Debbie a listen.

Best of Debbie Reynolds is an out of print CD. Originally, this was a budget priced CD but it now costs much more because, astonishingly, it is out of print! Not many people know that Debbie Reynolds could sing; but this CD will prove it! The sound quality is excellent and I like that artwork, too.

"Tammy" is the song that starts of the album with Debbie Reynolds singing very sweetly. The strings are used to great advantage; and overall this is a fine number to begin the album. Debbie's voice is certainly clear as a bell! "A Very Special Love" has Debbie swinging gently as she sings this to perfection and beyond! The musical arrangement is very lush. Nevertheless, make no mistake about it--this is Debbie's number, the music simply enhances it.

"Am I That Easy To Forget" features Debbie squarely front and center--right where she belongs! Her vocals are exquisite and the backup vocalists harmonize softly in the background. "Am I That Easy To Forget" is very much a highlight of this album. There's also "Moonglow;" Debbie does this with panache and her delivery makes "Moonglow" a very solid yet pretty number.

"Time After Time" sounds great when Debbie sings it--this sounds to me like THE definitive rendition of "Time After Time." Wow, Debbie sure could sing! "Mean To Me" again puts Debbie Reynolds right in the spotlight as she sings this poignant ballad. The strings sound great on "Mean To Me," too.

"S'posin" gets a fine treatment by Debbie Reynolds who aces this seemingly without the slightest effort--she was THAT good. The somewhat jazzy, lush music that goes with this song perfectly complements Debbie's vocals. "Hooray For Love" is a classic pop song that Debbie delivers very well. Her timing is quite good; and Debbie puts her own stamp on this tune with a few tempo and key changes--excellent!

The album ends very strong with Debbie Reynolds on "Aba Daba Honeymoon." "Aba Daba Honeymoon" is a duet Debbie sang with Carleton Carpenter in the movie entitled Two Weeks With Love from 1950; and she can really belt this one out like a champ! I'm very impressed.

If there was ever any doubt that Debbie Reynolds could sing out a tune, this CD will lay those concerns to rest. Debbie Reynolds had a wonderful voice and she could sing with the best of them! Fans of classic pop vocals will want this album and people who are fans of Debbie Reynolds will want this for their collections, too.

this record is great, it is a wonderful gift to all of her fans, young and old. i have enjoyed listening to debbie sing for some time..this has "Tammy" on it, along with many of her other hits..it will touch your heart.

I've been awestruck at the great talents of Debbie for only a few months, but the songs on this release are priceless to me already. Debbie's greatest hit, "Tammy" is here in beautiful stereo sound. The song is just aching to be played on a Surround Sound system. I've heard it on mine and it sounds so beautiful compared to a normal speaker system. It sounds good on a normal system, it's just that much better in Surround. In other words, the re-mastering was brilliant. This goes for ALL of the songs on this disc. The original version of "Aba Dabba Honeymoon" (with Carlton Carpenter) from the film, "Two Weeks With Love" is also on here. Keep in mind, she was only LeAnn Rimes' age (16) when she performed this song and her character in the film was probably supposed to be 14 (they never say in the film, but she looks it). "A Very Special Love" follows "Tammy" on the disc and is just wonderful. You'd think she would have sung this at the end of her film, "Bundle of Joy." Just following that, is the other end of the spectrum, "Am I That Easy To Forget?" This song was recorded, during the break-up of Debbie and Eddie Fisher. I wonder if there was a connection or if this was a coincidence. Other songs on the disc are Jazz tunes in the style of Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby. This album is appropriately named. These are her best.

I have seen Debbie many times and met her a lot. She is the most down to earth lady. She is such a sweetheart. Her voice is beautiful and clear. I know she is mainly known for her acting but I would to have more music from Debbie. Every song on this cd is sung to perfection as only Debbie can do, she takes a song and makes it her own. Debbie Reynolds is simply the best ever.

I think this CD is great. It covers some of Debbie's great hits and some others that are just as good. Last summer I went and saw Debbie in concert and I got it autographed. For anyone who's a Debbie fan, this is the CD to own.

This album is wonderful. Debbie is a terrific singer. I only wish that she was born later so we could appreciate her talent and voice.

Enjoy the charm and voice of Debbie Reynolds on this budget disc from the Curb label. It features a handful of her greatest chart-hits from the 1950s.

Reynolds rose to fame starring in a string of classic M-G-M musicals (in a few of them, namely Three Little Words and Singin' in the Rain, her singing was actually dubbed!), but it wasn't until she starred in the 1957 romantic comedy Tammy and The Bachelor that she scored a hit single ("Tammy"). Another million-seller came with "Am I That Easy to Forget?".

This disc also includes a dreamy "Moonglow", a well-judged "Mean to Me", and a delightful "Hooray for Love". Debbie Reynolds' singing has the ability to melt even the hardest of hearts, and this disc is a fine souvenir of her talents.

Tammy is really good song. It is tenderly and makes nostalgia remember. This song represents this album.
I did not know that it is the same as Vikki Carr that she was born in El Paso,Texas so far and am interesting.

As the title says, "The Best of Debbie Reynolds" contains all of her most successful songs, not necessarily all of her most well-known, but her biggest. Debbie was a huge movie star, who also ventured into the recording studio on occasion. Her singing voice was dubbed in a lot of her movies, so I think it was quite a surprise to a lot of people when they first heard her sing with her real voice. Speaking of which; she's got a sweet voice, but a very small one. She doesn't have much range, and almost no power. That being said, she carries herself with such grace, that she doesn't need any of that. This collection features her big hit "Tammy" (Billboard Hot 100 #1), which held that position for five weeks back in 1957. Her other chart entries is the lovely "A Very Special Love" (#20), the tender "Am I That Easy to forget?" (#25) and her fourth and final entry "City Lights" (#55). The hits aside, this collection also features such lovely tunes as "Moonglow" and "Hooray for Love". In conclusion: if you're a fan of vintage music, you'll love Debbie. She is after all, one of the few legends from the Golden Age of Musicals still alive. So for that alone, she deserves a listen.
