For those still not acquainted with Diane Schuur heavenly talents, this work is the perfect choice. Not only will they be amazed by Diane's versatile voice range but also by her exquisite, subtle gift for interpretation. The songs featured in this album are also quite varied: from traditional vocal jazz going through blues to some modern renditions which only enhance the esthetic power of the songs. By listening to her music, from any of her CD's, you'll have the impression that you are listening to as many different Diane's as there are songs being interpreted by her. You can be absolutely sure that Schuur is one of the best three jazz singers ever, deserving her thrown together with Ella and Sarah. All others are to be respected but do not qualify for such an honor. Diane Schuur, the First Lady of Jazz, happens to be blind. But she is not visually-challenged, since she can see through the soul just like very few artists can. Browse through just any other of her CD's and indulge in miraculous, good jazz.

This CD deserves nothing but superlatives. The music is well chosen, well played, well sung, and well...down right sexy. Schuur has a beautiful voice! Her music can be played over and over -- turn down the lights, light the candles, pour some wine, kick off the shoes, and sink deep into a comfy chair for a heart-warming listen.

A sampler from the magnificent DIANE SCHUUR is sure to be a divine treat!!! PEGGY would be so happy with her great opener of one of her classic's as DIANE does this PEGGY LEE original to the max!!! "SUNDAY" AND "SPEAK LOW" have never sounded better and the jazzy "THEM THERE EYES" is sublime and a fun romp!!! "BLUE GARDENIA" is so hauntingly brilliant that nobody could possibly come close to the greatness of this tremendous performance..."ROUND MIDNIGHT" takes one into the deep blues and lasts long after it's over and this whole collection of incredible performances is a total winner!!! Anyone who loves the really great singers who take you there all the way will be blown away with the depth and range of this great yet sadly under-appreciated singer... BRAVO DIANE!!!!
