Out-of-date, but interesting,

This review is from: Best of Dragon Magazine/from the Strategic Review and the Dragon, Vols I and II (Paperback)
This booklet is a collection of collection of articles from the early days of Dungeons and Dragons, dating to the days before the origination of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D). But, don't get the idea that these are a bunch of useless articles. In point of fact, many of them are theoretical or general, allowing for their information to be used in AD&D. Such things are discussed as the relationship of the inner planes to the outer ones, hints for Dungeon Masters, miscellaneous treasure, and much more.
Overall, I found this to be an interesting book, with a lot of good hints for running an AD&D campaign. Now, it is true that some of it deals with out of date game systems, such as Metamorphosis Alpha, which does significantly downgrade what value it would otherwise have. But, that said, it is an interesting read, with a lot of good hints for the modern gamer. |
