4.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Dream Weaver January 5, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Gary Wright is one of 70's greatest songwiters that had worked with a number of great talents before their glorious 80s days including Mick Jones(Foreigner) and Steve Winwood during Spooky Tooth times. He is also known as the trendsetter in keyboard/synth featured techno pop. So this compilation which came out in 1998 is sort of unknown treasures of 70s that finally see the light of day.

GET ON THE RIGHT ROAD and I KNOW A PLACE really rock somewhat Three Dog Night styled. STAND FOR OUR RIGHTS is one of my favorites other than huge hits such as DREAMWEAVER and LOVE IS ALIVE. KEEP LOVE IN YOUR SOUL featuring Steve Lukather as guitar solo is something like TOTO material while ARE YOU WEEPING is Steve Winwood trademark style.

Highly recommended if you like 70s mainstream American Pop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Wright, Many Lives.... April 1, 2000
Format:Audio CD
I was a little sad he chose the "Best of the DreamWeaver" for the title of this compilation. I understand the marketing aspect of it though and I hope it's a financial success. The two previously unreleased tracks were very welcome and I love "Someone Like You". It reminds me of a song Gary wrote for the movie "Endangered Species" that can only be heard in the background of one scene. If it had been up to me this cd would have had twice as many songs...

Hopefully he'll be able to pull all his live performances on shows like "Midnight Special" and "Don Kirshner's Rock concert" and put out a 'best of' live video...

Gary Wright was born early in the sense the time he experienced wasnt acknowledged his talent in the way he really deserves it.
Gary is the perfect combination of musical skills, experimentation, melody sense, poetry and a lot of personal memories....every time I hear this CD a lot of personal remembrances come to my head.
Definitely the creation power of this song and music writer cant found more acknowledgement in his time...maybe for technical reasons or maybe because of other stars in the sky were shinning in those days......

4.0 out of 5 stars Rare for a greatest hits collection July 6, 2001
Format:Audio CD
Usually, compilation CD's do not include one or two tracks that seem to wind up on a secondary "best of" offering. In this case, "I Really Want To Know You", a mid-chart early 80's hit was included! Interesting tracks will take you deeper into Wright's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Collection! May 2, 2006
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Gary Wright was born in New Jersey, but he started recording in 1967 and then moved on to work with "Spooky Tooth". In 1970 he was one of many upcoming talents that helped with George Harrison's keyboards on his famous 3-LP, "All Things Must Pass". Now this collection gathers the best from his studio recordings from 1971 to 1998. Its mostly a seventies sound with blockbusters like, Love Is Alive" and "Dreamweaver", but other songs like "Touch And Gone" are thrillers. Along with those, he manages some good heart-breaking ballads, such as, "Someone Like You". The songwriting, instrumentals and vocals are all top notch and this is really the best collection available with great liner notes.

I love the kind of music that you can actually understand the words to and you can sing to. Good songs from when I was younger

The first CD I received had scratches on it, the vendor sent me another copy out immediately. I was very happy with the customer service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Wright - Amazing performer! August 18, 2008

I was listening to this CD the other night and I swear I could hear the "styles" of many different musicians! Some from earlier & some from later! It was kind of a strange revelation. I'm pleased!
