Though there are better collections and albums from the Dubliners, this one is extremely good, and you can get it from sellers for an extremely cheap price *thumbs up*
It's a great music just to put on and enjoy. Fantastic background music, or music for whatever. Just good music, simple as that. The Dubliners were good at what they did, and this is a good collection of songs to show that to anyone :)

Childhood Memories,

I remember going to parties with my mum & da as a weein' and after a few drinks, the old folks would break out into a sing-a-long. They sang all the rebel and old folk tunes they grew up with and lived by, not missing a beat nor a word.I recall being taken by the participation of all, regardless of their ability and tone deafedness. There was no shame, only pride. After accessig this website my foot is aching, due to the no stop toe tapping of memories that have allowed me to enjoy my heritage....Thank You Kieran Heaney- Picton- Ontario- Canada

I first heard these songs at college, when my friend made me a tape (before MP3s) of the Dubliners. I very nearly wore that tape out. These songs are without a doubt among their best, and Luke Kelly's voice is really unmatched in traditional Irish music. The Chieftains sound like smarmy, studio-bred charlatans next to the musicianship and energy in these recordings. The Celtic Connection, Young Dubliners, or Black 47 don't even bear comparison. "Will You Come to the Bower", "The Orange Flute", "Foggy Dew" and "Roddy McCorley" are more than worth the cost of the CD. The only thing I can think to say against this disc is that the quality of the recording did not win the studio techs any awards, though Luke Kelly's voice would only have suffered from overdubbing and remastering. He sounds like a drunk, he was a drunk, he sings about drinking. Give this to anyone who thinks Ireland is all shamrocks, Guinness, and little green men - the depth and power of some of the old reels is extremely affecting. Anyone who likes the Pogues will also be happily surprised by this disc.
