Don't Bother: Waste of Money,

I spent $10 sight unseen to buy this on Amazon, because most of Falcon's other guides are good, detailed and sensibly priced. I wrongfully assumed this would be similar. It is a tiny guide, easily fitting in a pocket. 96 pages, but only 60 dedicated to the "hikes." Only 18 "hikes" are described. Only 4 of these are located on the west side of the island where 90%+ of people vacation. And, it turns out these "hikes" are really not hikes at all, but walks or easy strolls. 11 are less than 1 mile roundtrip. 7 are from 1.1 to 2.2 miles. I mean, really, do you call a roundtrip of 1/2 mile (5 of them) or less a hike?
Most people will be much happier with: Hawaii The Big Island Trailblazer: Where to hike, snorkel, surf, bike, drive. This has "156 hikes and strolls" along with snorkeling, biking, camping, etc. info. It's $15 instead of $10, but it is 10X more useful. |
