The Best Erotic Comics Anthology features the cream of the crop of literary erotica, mostly produced by US based artists but also featuring international stars like Toshio Saeki, whose exquisite and bizarre color works in the style of traditional Japanese prints were a highlight of the first edition of the BEC anthology.
This book is hot, but it's a little too smart to be porn, and the work has, if you will, a soul. BEC 2009 features fresh, naughty, quirky and liberating visions by some of the best artists working in the comics medium today. The styles and techniques are as varied as they can possibly be and still be called "comics". Erica Moen's "Odd Things That Make Me Orgasm" and Colleen Coover's "Nibbil's Birthday" are sweet peeks into the female libido. Belasco's "Th' Floodgates" is a masterfully drawn homoerotic feast. If you like alternative comics, and are ready to be stimulated in both body and mind, you'll enjoy this tasty and unusual selection of shorts. This is an example of what talented comics creators can do when they set out to explore the world of sex-- on their own terms, and without being expected to leave their intellects checked at the door.
