The list author says: "I spent a lot of time reading reviews from several websites as well as looking at items in stores. This is a list of the items we purchased and have been indispensable for the first year of my daughter's life."
"Newborns sleep a lot! You may not NEED a bassinet, but because they sleep so much, having something that you can wheel out into the living room is very nice. This one is very sturdy, and attractive. The only negative is that the wheels could be a bit bigger to make it easier to roll on carpet."
"Good budget baby monitor. If you don't mind spending more than $50 there are probably better monitors out there. But these work just fine. They definitely pick up my daughters voice, even at a young age. My only complaint is that they buzz if there are other electronics near them such as a cell phone."
"We actually had the farm version of this jumperoo (only available from Babies R Us). We prefer that one because it has more activites and a book on it. It kept my daughter entertained and safe from 4 months up, and we're still using it!"
"We used this chair mainly when my daughter was younger. We never had a newborn swing, but that would be an alternative to this chair. Now that she's crawling and climbing she doesn't use this anymore because we don't want her to fall. She was very motivated to pull the mushroom to start the music herself. Finally at about 3 months old she did it!"
"This high chair is more expensive than others, but the ability to seat two children (one toddler booster and one high chair) is great for people planning on having two kids. It is very stury, solidly constructed, does not feel flimsy at all, moves easily even on carpet, and has a tray cover that is dishwasher safe."
"My daughter loves this toy. The number of interactive items on it, steering wheel, horn, gear shift, on/off ignition, moving puppy dog :), dials that spin, headlight knob, and lights that light up make it better than other driving toys. When she was very young she played with it on her high chair tray (we did have to hold it for her), now she plays with it on the ground."
"We considered getting a Bumbo chair, but we went with this chair because it had toys, and boy am I glad. My daughter loves the little plastic cups on this the most, go figure. I put cheerios on the tray. It has back support so she could sit in this before she could quite sit up by herself."
"Another winner! Music, and lights are sure to get my daughters attention. She figured out by herself that the blue button plays all the instruments and would actively turn the cube to look for the blue side. She would also use her feet to play the cube."
"A must have once your little one is mobile. This one is a great size, roomy inside, colorful with toys on each side. My daughter loves the mirror and the crinkly butterfly. The inside looks like a fun, baby play room not a baby jail!"
"From about 8 months, or younger if you have a bigger baby that can sit up, up this slightly larger bathtub is great for baths and allow a little extra room for floating toys and splashing. She sits up for the majority of time, but when I rinse the shampoo I move her to the reclining side."
