The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction publishes a special author issue on occasion; the author selected is honored by the inclusion of a major new story, a critical essay on his work, and a comprehensive bibliography. The special contents of the first six one-author issues is gathered in this volume. Stories include: When You Care, When You Love, by Theodore Sturgeon (1963 Hugo Award nominee); To the Chicago Abyss, by Ray Bradbury; The Key, by Isaac Asimov; Ship of Shadows, by Fritz Leiber (winner, 1970 Hugo Award; nominated, 1969 Nebula Award); The Queen of Air and Darkness, by Poul Anderson (Winner, 1971 Nebula Award; 1972 Hugo Award; 1972 Locus Poll Award, Best Short Fiction); and Midsummer Century, by James Blish (5th place, 1973 Locus Poll Award, Best Novella). There are also essays and bibliographies for each of these authors, brought up to date as of this book publication, and an introduction by Edward L. Ferman.
