Great Bench for Small Spaces,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Best Fitness BFFID10 FID Bench (Sports)
Trying to find a suitable bench for small spaces can be a real chore. Fortunately, the Best Fitness BFFID10 FID bench is a worthwile solution to that problem. Out of the box, assembly is a 2-step process - secure the incline back to the seat hinge using the included steel rod and alan wrench, and lock the legs in place with the included safety pins (for those intending to leave it in one position, the legs can be secured with bolts, nuts and washers instead, which are also included along with the appropriate tools).
You can choose from 5 incline back positions and 3 locking positions for each leg, allowing you to set it up for a variety of flat, incline, and decline exercises. At first glance, the incline back doesn't appear to lay perfectly flat but once the legs are locked into place, only the seat itself is at a very slight incline. While its perfectly flat, you can hold onto the handles of the incline back during ab crunches and other ab exercises, a nice bonus indeed, not to mention it's upgradeable with the optional accessories Best Fitness makes for this bench. One of the key highlights of the bench is its size. End to end, the bench measures about 3-1/2' when in the flat position, though this can be a bit of a double-edged sword. It's great that it doesn't take up a lot of room, but this also doesn't make it an ideal bench for tall people. If the length from your pelvic bone to the base of the back of your head is longer than this, you may want to consider a longer bench. The bench is also on the somewhat skinny side, measuring only 9-3/4" at its widest point, so keep that in mind when factoring in your body type. Another key highlight is its storage-friendliness, allowing you to store the bench under a bed or in the back of a closet, which is a fantastic feature that is lacking from most home workout benches in general. However, there's a bit of a missed opportunity here - neither the legs when completely folded in nor the incline back while in the flat position can lock into place. Instead, there are 2 steel loops on each leg for securing them together with a bungie cable or strap, and the incline back just hangs if stored vertically. For these reasons, the bench is best suited for being stored under a bed. Overall, the Best Fitness BFFID10 FID bench wins in the versatility department. The cushioning should provide admirable support throughout your workouts, but the cushioning is pretty firm so don't expect it to compare to the likes of your mattress or favorite sofa. It's also a little disappointing that the legs and incline back cannot be locked into place, which can make storing the bench in closets a clunky ordeal and further keeps it from being a 5-star product in my opinion. Still, the solid construction, expandability, and low price tag for this portable bench make it well worth the investment regardless.

This is a small bench and low to the ground. I am 5'10" 170lb and my son is 6'2" 222lb and we both use it easily, so the smallness is an asset for our limited area but the size does not limit any exercises. We use dumbbells a lot and this bench is perfect for those exercises. Easily adjusts in seconds and is sturdily built. We already have a bench that is attached to our weight machine and I thought this new bench would get limited use but its portability/movability and its ease of adjustment have made it our main bench. We also put the back at a high angle and use it for dumbbell preacher curls. Extremely happy we got it!

Great Bench!,

This is a super bench for the price. It has 4 different height adjustable positions and each leg can be either folded or reclined to a different angle to further incline or decline this bench. Also both legs can be folded to make a great floor bench for floor presses as well or to simply be tucked away until your next workout. This is a great product that came already put together right out of the box. If all of best fitness's products are of this quality then they've got a new full time customer.:)

I'd been looking for a weight bench for a couple of years and after reading everyone's review I bought this. First the promotion of the bill me later doesn't work on this item. Anyway, I agree that it is very sturdy and easy to set up and arrived promptly - 5 stars on all of those items. But I think I will have to return it, if it doesn't cost me too much to do so - I have to pay for the cost to return this ~50 lb item. What I don't care for is that it's narrow and firm. I prefer more padding or a softer feel. I might buy some foam padding or something. It's also narrow; as wide as my thumb to pinky finger when stretched out. Therefore it supports between my shoulder blades and that's it. Maybe that's good for range of motion, but I feel like I'm going to tip over (not because it's not sturdy but because it's narrow). In addition it hits me about mid head level which is uncomfortable. I know it had measurements with it but measuring out dimensions and really sitting on something are two different things. And I can't slide down too far because the seat part of the bench is slightly raised. I've learned that for me a weight bench is like a car, I really have to try it first to make sure it feels right and is what I want. I can't believe how out of sync I am with everyone else that wrote in.

As usual, Amazon's shipping is unrivaled. The bench was delivered in great condition and was very easy to set up. Supplied are clamps and nuts/bolts. You can use the clamps for easy dismantling and storing or nuts/bolts for a permanent fixture. The bench has 4 different positions from flat to incline and i think can be adjusted to multiple other positions if you play around with the legs. overall i'm one of those consumers who researches products for months and reads reviews extensively. if you're one of those customers, then this bench is the one to get. the price is just right--won't hit your wallet and does not take up much floor space
The leather is soft and comfortable, keeps moisture/sweat from seeping in--so you won't have a smelly workbench. The bench is long enough for tall people as well and is very sturdy--made out of good quality materials. you can also check out bestfitness's website for extra accessories for your bench or w/e for those of you who need some exercise tips, check out trainwithmeonline.com for free videos, guides, routines, etc I don't work for that site, just stumbled on it and thought i'd share with the community. cheers

Badly designed,

First off let me tell you my main uses for this equipment. I use it for bench presses (incline, decline, flat), military press, skull busters (tricep extension on flat bench) and occasionally seated curls. What I was looking for is a solidly built bench that I could quickly convert to be able to perform the exercise I needed, fold up so I can tuck away under the bed, and did all that for about $100 or less.
Initially, I thought this bench met all of these, but I quickly discovered it did so with a catch on all. All the parts seem to be built to last but the design doesn't help the matter in the least. Because the portion that supports your torso does not "lock down", it is not as steady as it should. If I raise my legs off the ground while bench pressing for example, the bench will rock back and forth with my body in that section. Another issue that I did not anticipate is that the seat portion of the bench is angled up and not parallel to the floor. This is an issue because it is angled in a way that is too low to support you adequately during incline and too high to keep you from sliding off during decline (an issue I discovered with over 200lbs of weight by the way). Lastly, storage and portability is next to impossible because the bench is way too high when folded up to fit under most any bed (mine is about 8" and barely clear half the bench). Neither the legs nor the torso portion can be locked in the folded position and this causes a lot of headaches when trying to move it. Those were my cons. The pro is that it quickly goes from flat to incline. Hope this helps

Tall people need not apply,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Best Fitness BFFID10 FID Bench (Sports)
I'm 6'3" and the bench is simply too small to be an effective workout tool, both length and width wise. Lengthwise, my head is not supported when it's in the decline position, and more over, it does not provide a foothold where a person can lock in their feet to keep from falling off when in the decline position. The bench is also much narrower than I have ever experienced, and I've been weightlifting for around 20 years. I'm not that wide (only weigh 190), but I prefer better support on my back than just down my spine.
It IS well constructed and probably would be a better fit for someone shorter than 6 feet, provided they didn't want to workout in the decline position. Again, the lack of a foothold to stabilize one's body in the decline position would still be a deal breaker for me. I'm in the process of returning the product. The good news is that found a used bench in pristine condition and which meets my requirements at Play It Again sports for $10 less. Still, a lot of frustration in repackaging the product, hauling it back to the nearest UPS drop off store, and paying $30 for shipping. Lesson learned here: tall folks like me should physically try out equipment in a brick and mortar store to make sure it fits their body before venturing out on the internet.

Very, very heavy and sturdy. Adjustment is a breeze. Includes spring-loaded pins and bolts for adjustment allowing you to permanently fix the legs if you want. Very little assembly, and what there was had great instructions. For the price, I don't think there is a better, more versatile bench.
However, it is almost impossible to get it to lie completely flat. All positions are either inclined slightly or declined slightly. The product picture is a good example. Set up like this, if you lay the back down flat, it is slightly declined. If you put the support on the first notch, it is slightly inclined. I have yet to be able to get it completely flat.

Got the bench and the rack...,

I was looking for a decent, somewhere-between-amateur-and-professional bench press for the house, and after doing my homework online and in person, I decided on this bench and the accompanying press rack, the BFPR10 Multi Press Rack. I researched both of these online only, as I could find them in no stores nearby.
The bench: sturdy, solid, deep gunmetal color, easier-than-heck to put together right out of the box (it was already 95% assembled). Two ways to adjust the position: 1) The easily movable arm attached to the back of the upper portion of the bench slides into notches in the base, going from incline to flat. 2) Another adjustment is a small silver hook-like attachment at the top of the front and rear legs. This moves the legs up and down. This requires a little more effort than simply adjusting the arm into the notch, but nothing overly burdensome. A few observations about the bench: it is indeed narrow and somewhat short. I am a 6', 235 guy, so for a bigger person, it's gonna seem a little small. However, I fit on it without problem. When inclined, the middle of my head rests on the top of the back, so for someone 6'1" or taller, I would probably recommend a different bench. Also, the padding feels solid and very well put-together, but I would certainly not call it comfortable or plush. Nor does the bench go 100% flat, which was a concern of mine, as in the pictures and the online video I saw, it appeared the seat remained at a slight incline. It does indeed, but I have been benching now for a few days and it is such a slight degree of incline that it's virtually unnoticeable. I was worried at first, but it has not been an issue at all. The decline I have not used, as the seat declines too, which sort of defeats the purpuse. No big deal for me, but if decline presses are your thing, again, I would look for another bench. All in all, four stars. I am pleasantly surprised, as ordering something like this site unseen can sometimes be a bad decision. I would have given it 5 stars if it were two inches wider and a few inches longer. Other than that, I think this is a pretty solid bench for folks to use at home.

More Bench for Bucks !,
This review is from: Best Fitness BFFID10 FID Bench (Sports)
After searching numerous times for a bench that has Decline,Incline & Flat features,at a reasonable cost,This is my choice.
Many go to incline from flat but only about 1/4 also have the 3rd Decline as well.I already have 3 weight benches in my home gym.2 of 3 do incline, none do decline. For the last year or so I've been sticking a cement block under the bottom of my bench. If it's gonna cost me $300.00 I'll keep useing the block, man. This weight bench is of heavy construction,47 lbs I beleive. That's double the one I was considering and it didn't even go to decline I found out luckily, prior to purchase. Be sure to read the features and make sure it does what you need it to do. I beleive with this one,I can get rid of the 3 benches I've got. Jerome Owens |
