5.0 out of 5 stars Strong compilation of Steve's MCA music
This compilation (one of only two British releases for Steve - the other was Burnin' the roadhouse down) was for many years the strongest compilation of his music anywhere. It now has a rival, the Ultimate Collection on Hip-O. 5.0 out of 5 stars Strong compilation of Steve's MCA music, October 5, 2002
This review is from: Best Of: Flower That Shattered the Stone (Audio CD)
This compilation (one of only two British releases for Steve - the other was Burnin' the roadhouse down) was for many years the strongest compilation of his music anywhere. It now has a rival, the Ultimate Collection on Hip-O. That CD includes three RCA tracks and two Arista tracks, not included here, though they can be found on yet another compilation (Super hits, which only contains RCA and Arista tracks).

This CD does not have any of those (so it's a great companion to Super hits), but it has all sixteen of the MCA tracks to be found on Ultimate Collection, plus five others, including the title track.

The flower that shattered the stone was apparently popular with British line-dancers in the late nineties - it was interpreted by them as a tribute to Princess Diana. Hey alarm clock is an amusing song about having to get up in the morning and go to work. The other three wonderful tracks here but not on the Ultimate Collection are Heart trouble, Precious thing and L-O-V-E love.

Two ten-track volumes of MCA greatest hits are also available - this CD contains all the tracks from the first and all but two (There for awhile and The domino theory) from the second - if you want those, you'll have to buy that CD.

If you only want one hits collection by Steve, Ultimate Collection may be the one for you, but if you want two, go for this one and Super hits, containing all the Ultimate tracks between them plus ten others, without any duplication.

The price may have been a little higher than I would like because this is an import, but it was worth it. If you are a fan of Steve Wariner, this is a MUST have CD!
