A Friend speaking about the Best of Friends,
By "gamer4" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Best of Friends, Volume 1 (Paperback)
This is a thought provoking collection, but as is the case with collections, not all of the stories (though all are well crafted) speak equally to every reader's condition. Friend Bonnie's tribulations on speaking truth are heart-wrenching. I ended up purchasing a copy of 'The Iron Bridge' based on the excerpt presented. I strongly recommend this volume to all F/friends as an exemplar of current Quaker writing.

Modern but Timeless,
This review is from: The Best of Friends, Volume 1 (Paperback)
Printed by Kino, a Quaker-run printing company, in a Friend-esque plain form, this book should not be judged by its basic cover. The beauty and magnitude of the messages herein are modern but timeless, and deserve a spot on every bookshelf, whether Quaker or otherwise. Chuck Fager has included essays, short fiction, poetry, drawings, and book excerpts that leave you wanting more. You'll find yourself turning to these short snippets of wisdom time and time again. I, for one, sincerely hope for a Volume Two.
