Editorial Reviews

2007 release with bonus DVD (PAL format) of a collection of the best from the UK TV presenter and master boogie woogie pianist's favourite recordings with his Big Band Orchestra performed in duet with various guest stars like Chrissie Hynde, Sting, Mica Paris and David Gilmour, Norah Jones and KT Tunstall. This edition presents two recordings with Lulu and Ruby Turner that are unique to this disc and previously unreleased as well as a new remix of 'Horse to the Water', the last recording by the late great beloved Beatle George Harrison. The DVD includes a documentary featurette about the recording sessions over the years along with an interview of Gilson Lavis, drummer of the Big Band Orchestra (and former drummer and bandmate of Holland's in the group Squeeze). Topping it all off are promotional video lensings of songs recorded with Jamiroquai, Suggs (lead singer of Madness) and the ever energetic Tom Jones. WEA/Rhino 2007

I got this CD for the George Harrison cut which was pure George and worth the price of admission alone but after a listen I must say the entire CD was very enjoyable. If you look at the cast of characters you'll know it can't be bad but they all do their thing and they do it well. Tom Jones does a great job just to name one, but you have the late, great Solomon Burke singing his heart out as well. I'm new to Jools Holland but he has a lot of friends in high places and they don't let him or us down. I must give this CD my highest recommendations and I hope that you will feel the same.

I purchased this after watching a segment on Jules Holland a few years ago on the CBS show "Sunday Morning." It has become one of my all-time favorite CDs. Each selection is extremely well done and the variety here is unparalleled. It's a timeless recording!

I saw Jools at the Royal Albert Hall on Dec 1, 2012 & he was FANTASTIC! He assembles a great group of performers & knows how to deliver a fun show. This ability is carried over to his albums & I highly recommend all of his works. JJ
