This simple design is pretty much perfect. It is indestructable, easy to use, will last forever, and does a great job of gently soaking a wide area of lawn or gardden beds. It won't bruise little bare feet so it's perfect for youngsters to run through on a hot day. Running over it with lawnmower won't hurt it. A tug on the hose moves it to a new spot easily without shutting it off.
Down with plastic tools! This one is cast iron.

DOES A GREAT JOB. I purchased these to replace two have have used for over 25 years. They finally wore out from throwing them around the yard, dragging them over sidewalks and driveways. You can pick up the water hose about 10 feet from the sprinkler,crimp it to stop the water flow, drag the hose and then just throw it to where you want it, and it lands head up and sprinkling. This technique works great after aerating and over-seeding.

I agree that it is indestructable and have several of these. However, buy one of those plastic hose connector quick snap sets for it. It rusted onto one of our best garden hoses (pretty quickly too). We have the little quick connectors for all the new ones with no problem.

I needed a simple sprinkler with enough heft so that it would stay put when I placed it on the ground. I also wanted one that I could use for spot watering small areas in my garden as needed. However, when the water is turned up high this will also cover quite a large area.

It's a no-frills sprinkler that does exactly what I want it to do. It's well made and should last for years. Because it's made of iron, as others have mentioned, it's a good idea to oil it up a little so it won't rust.

I also ordered the No. 50950 Circular Spray sprinkler and it's identical to this one. Since that's the case, just price them out, as shipping is not free on either of these, as they're shipped from the manufacturer. At the time I purchased them the shipping cost was more than the price of the sprinkler, so just choose the one with the lowest total cost.

I recommend this sprinkler to anyone who needs a basic unit that will stay put when placed on the ground.

I bought this at Walmart and it is amazing how something so simple can work so well. I use it in Arizona to water spots on the lawn where the automatic sprinklers are not adequate. The inside is cast iron and tends to rust a bit so you may want to take WD40 or other lubricant and spray the treads and the outlet with a shot and it will work better and minimize rust longer. I also like it because it is heavy and stays put on a stiff hose. Who ever said simpler can't be better?

It seems like a good sprinkler, but it isn't working with my low water pressure. I have a well and water bladder, but it does not spray more then the 30' as said, and it runs for about 2 minutes, then my water tank drops off. I thought it would dispurse less water to cover the poor water pressure I have, so the tank could keep up. For the price, anything is worth a try when you have low water pressure I guess.

Nice weight to it so it doesn't feel flimsy, and covers a small area with light droplets. Efficient, affordable, and durable.

We have one of these that my parents bought during the 1960's. Still works great and looks good. Never had rust problems, but WD40 does help make it easier to screw onto hose. Paint had peeled over time, so I painted it yellow.

Nothing wrong with mine. I just want another one for running two at the time. Not knowing if these were still available, I just checked online and found it along with the new square sprinkler, which I plan to purchase ASAP! Hopefully, the quality hasn't changed. Happy watering!

This is a great little sprinkler and covers a nice size area based on how much water pressure you apply. The only problem is it's made in China and the quality of paint used is very poor. I would recommend repainting as soon as you get it otherwise it will rust quickly.
