If you've ever "liked" one of Gahan Wilson's cartoons, you'll "love" this book! Nice collection of some of his finest cartoons. Highly recommended.

Wilson has been making me laugh since I was a kid, and letting me know that there's at least one guy out there goofier than me. Still, better to be a little weird than to do whatever you're told by whatever authority figure is trying to jack you, as Gahan ably points out time and again.
This guy is a freak in the best possible way, gleefully mocking our fears and weirdnesses, and boy do we have a ton of 'em. Even better than his strangeness is his intelligent understanding of people and what really makes us tick. Not all of his work is weird; some of it is direct and to the point, and his always amusing artistic style never fails to highlight the joke and the insight. Plus, his stuff just makes me laugh, time and again and again. A great artist makes you see the world differently after you've encountered his work. Gahan Wilson has been a master at doing just that for almost fifty years now. Long may he weird!

I gave this book to my Uncle who is a big Gahan Wilson fan. He LOVES it. The book has commentary by the author and the cartons have a similar theme like eating people on two pages. I highly recommend it.

Master of Macabre,

This review is from: Best of Gahan Wilson (Hardcover)
I first encountered the cartoons of Gahan Wilson in Playboy magazine over four decades ago. Along with Charles Addams, Gahan was the early master of "dark" humor.
His drawing style is weird to say the least, but it is also amazing and perfect for his form of twisted and off-beat humor. This small paperback book collects almost 200 of his cartoons over 144 pages. There are samples from the last fifty years of his work in glorious full color, sepia & grey tones to masterful pen and ink drawings. You don't need to feel guilty to laugh at these wonderful and creepy offerings from the dark side....They are well worth a look see. If you enjoy: "The Far Side" you will become a fan Gahan Wilson, and this book is a wonderful place to stick your toe into alligator infested murky water. This book is a treasure of grotesque ghoulish fun! FIVE STARS !!!

I remembered this book when I was a boy. My dad tried to toss it (or maybe it was my mom behind his back), but I found it & after flipping through it was laughing like crazy!
Of course the original book was larger but the comics in it are the same. This is a good book for the dark humorist in you.
