This review is from: Best Of Games (Gooka: The Mystery of Janatris, Jack Orlando, Another War, Gorky 17, Septerra Core, KnightShift ) (Video Game)
The packaging was ok, although it seems silly of them to make the DVD case so big considering it contains only 1 double sided DVD.
Although I haven't tried Jack Orlando yet, I have a few impressions about the rest of the games.
Gooka- I found it really hard to get into. The controls i felt are mapped terribly, and it is pretty difficult to adjust them. Because of this, I gave up pretty early in.
Another War- The game plays like planescape: torment or baldur's gate, except in world war II. Although a pretty good game, it doesn't seem nearly as polished as the better known titles.
Gorky 17- The game plays like a role playing turn based tactical strategy game. The story and ambience are decent. I didn't particularly like the combat and leveling system though.
KnightShift- plays like diablo II but as if it was made in the Warcraft III world editor. The quest system resembles warcraft III's objective system. The game doesn't seem too great overall.
Septerra Core-a decent semi active battle role playing game. The story is well done, but the battles tend to be overly lengthy. The speech audio did not play fully on some of the shorter dialog clips on my notebook.
overall, I kind of find it disappointing that these are titled the "best of games." The majority of them are mediocre for their times, and I'd say that many of them haven't aged well.
