Nice collection of hits in short version form,

This new collection of Gloria Gaynor's greatest hits includes her major hits and some extras as well! The disc has been remastered and sounds great, but unfortunately the songs are around 3 minutes and under. For those who could care less about extended versions this collection is all you need. For those who want the ultimate collection buy The Gloria Gaynor Anthology 2 - cd set. This includes full length extended versions of all her hits!

Here she is! The Grammy Award winning, first lady of the dancefloor. This sweat-generating Millennium collection of GG gems, takes us through some of the lady's most memorable moments. Gloria and her then producers (including Meco 'Star Wars' Monardo) were the orginal pioneers of the disco beat, but its Gloria awesome vibrating voice that captivated our hearts, ears and feet back in the 70's and still does today. Michael Jackson made special note in a British interview of GG's version of Never Can Say Goodbye. He was impressed with the rythm in it. Thankfully the whole of the first side Gloria's classic debut album of the same name is included in this new collection. Casanova Brown and How High The Moon form GG's second album showcase's GG's classy vocal style to great affect. Let's Make A Deal is thumping treat and Most Of All is sheer bliss with a catchy bassline that penetrates to the very soul. I Will Survive, GG's signiture tune needs no introduction, only to say that versions of the same by REM, Cake, Gladys Knight, Diana Ross and endless others, simply do not compare. This lady is a smooth soft machine.
One would wish she could record these songs again in modern-time technique. She is resonating so fluently she could do any kind of soul. Her shiny voice is a living temptation. |
