Great selection!,

This book has a great selection of hymns. If you are into gospel music, you'll find some real classics, from the old traditional songs to newer gospel music. The arrangements are quite simple, comparable to any hymnal I've ever played from, easily learned.

Great Music,

The Best Gospel Songs ever is a great book for piano. It is difficult enough to challenge a newbie to piano like me yet easy enough for me to play. Great selection of songs also.

For intermediate level player,
By John 3:16 (Rochester, NY USA) - See all my reviews

This book contains many great gospel songs. I am a new guitar player (just learning) and this book contains songs that are too complicated for me right now. There are more than 5 chords in most songs with many changes within the songs (remember that I am new though, so someone with more expreience may not think this is alot). Although I am not able to play these now, I look forward to growing into these as I learn more. This will be a great book for me in the future and I would recommend it for someone who has been playing for a little while and knows more than just the basic chords.

I can only speak from the point of view of a pianist. I found these arrangements to be lacking in creativity. For an intermediate level very basic.

The Best Gospel Songs Ever,
This review is from: The Best Gospel Songs Ever (Paperback)
The reason I like this book so well is because it has some great songs in it that was sang in the church choir I was in for years. They are beautiful songs.

I really like this piano book. It's not for beginners, but probably too easy for advanced piano players. I'm starting over from when I was young.
This songbook has beautiful religious/gospel songs in it. It's Easy Piano. the notes are nice and big, I like that. Yes, you have to flip pages, because with bigger notes they don't all go on one or two pages, but I have no problem with that. I can't play that fast anyway. Trying to work my way up. It has the left hand notes, or you can play using chords (which I don't know how to do, though that seems to be the new thing). I got this book because it has songs I like such as Amazing Grace, Peace in the Valley, In the Garden, How Great Thou Art, Blessed Assurance, many songs. There is one with a cute title I never heard of, you may have "God Said It, I Believe It, That Settles It". But there are other songs I've never heard, but there are so many songs in this book, I'm sure you will find what you like. I cannot remember if the songs are listed at the link to the book. Again, I wish all publishers would use Amazon's "free take a look" where we can go in and see the Table of Contents and an example of the music notes, then we can decide if we think we can play. I always order from Amazon - using "one-click". Quick and easy.

Great Gospel Song Book,

I was looking for a book of good gospel and religious songs for my church jam session. We have mostly retired people, some haven't played in years, and they love to play and sing the great gospel songs. We have some guitar players(so having the guitar chords was a must), piano and various other instruments. Most of them have problems with too many sharps or flats, so simple is the key. No song in this book has more than 2 of either one and therefore this book works great for us. I'll be ordering more copies as we get more participants.

I bought this book primarily to learn how to sight read piano music. There's plenty of gospel songs that I've never heard before (which is a good thing for sight reading). The arrangements are fairly straight-forward and I'm pleased with the book.
