Every song on this album has something to offer. It's the glory to God and the inspired lyrics that make these songs purposeful, alive, and kicking. "Still in the Spirit" is a liberating song talking about the freedom we have in Christ and when we choose to live in Him day by day.

Some may say this is not classic Dion, but as he himself says "there's a new breed of man coming on the scene..." talking about those who are right with God and following after God's heart's desires.

Dion's song "Come to the Cross" is about how God wants all of us to come to Him and repent (actively change and turn away) from our sin to put away our idols (things we hold more important than God).

The styles of music change, fashions come and go, but the message of God's unchanging grace towards us has lived for 2000 years since He rose from the grave.

"Money wrinkles and things do decay...catalacs end up in the junk yard..." but the "truth will set set ya free". "He's the One they call the Son" and He can set you free. I recommend this album to anyone who enjoys Dion. It's the message that makes the difference, so encouraging, so uplifting, just what you may need. It would be most awesome if Dion would sing and write more of this again, I hope he's in da Vine and in da House because "when it all comes round You are the centre of my life...You make me happy Lord" .

This a highly interesting selection from about 6 different gospel albums that Dion recorded in the 1980's. 2 of the songs,, Sweet Surrender and Truth Will Set You Free earned their way into Dion's boxed set collection of greatest hits, and You Need A Love , along with Train For Glory , probably belong in that boxed set as well. Sweet Surrender, in my opinion, is one of Dion's most memorable songs, and I rank it right up there with John Lennon's Imagine.
For those familiar with Dion's personal life, Center Of My Life takes on a special significance, and Still in the Spirit is also a first rate song. The liner notes by Little Steven of the E Street Band are yet another reminder of the musical link between Dion and Bruce Springsteen. The only reason I did not give this cd 5 stars is because "best of" compilations should not be rated on the same scale as an album of songs that were all recorded at the same time - it is an unfair comparison. But this cd is an excellent showcase of the gospel side of Dion, and can be enjoyed with or without any religious fervor.

Anyone who knows and likes rock and roll will surely know that Dion is the "King of Cool", and when he sings about The King of Kings and Lord of Lords the combination is GREAT! We all like to tap our toes to a good tune or song, but when the message in the song is so inspired we are uplifted and truely blessed! This is surely Dion's BEST ever album!!!

I first heard Dion perform some of these songs on EWTN. I bought the CD to get those songs, but I got so much more! I love the laid back rhythm of "Still in the Spirit" and the driving rhythm of "He's the One." It's not just the music that's fantastic on the CD, but the lyrics are so compelling.

This CD will make you happy.

Christian , or otherwise , this is still one of my favourite singers , and only Dion (di mucci) seems to be able to touch the human heart in such a poweful manner !!"Centre of my life", .."Sweet Lord Jesus", ...especially "The Truth will set you free"!, ( my all-time favourite Dion song!!!!!) ..all the soings on this c.d. are truly remarkable , and , friom a Christian perspective (which i am !) ...incredible!!!!!BUY!!!!!

It was indeed a blessing to find this compilation on CD. I had bought most of the vinyl albums from which these songs were chosen, in the 1980s. The disk has some of Dion's finest gospel tunes, but I was dissapointed that only one song from the "Only Jesus" album made it on the collection. (Of course that is a biased opinion.. since "Only Jesus" was my personal favorite album of his). The soul - stirring lyrics on this CD are indeed a treat to any Christian believer. The song .. "Sweet Surrender" is a testimonial that has a heart-felt honesty that most folks can be able to relate to. All the songs are wonderful. As I listen to the CD I am drawn to a loving warmth that the Good Lord has flooded into the songs. Dion is an enormous musical talent, and his gifts are very evident on this collection. I highly recommend it to all.

This album picks you up by the pants like an old uncle and tickles compassion into your heart. Dion's personal testament to Christ and his a ability to tranlate his thoughts into music is wonderfully displayed in this upbeat, harmonious, and creative compilation. I grew up listening to this music which makes me a little biased of course but this collection plain and simple blends perfectly Dion's tender falsetto along with his unique guitar style. "Truth will set you free" "New Jersey Wife" are just a couple examples of Dion's old world influences and Christian ethics. Other Christian albums are written and composed very well, but what places Dion's music in a league of its is own is obvious. "He's Dion!" "Yo Frankie" Do yourself a favor BUY THIS ALBUM and be ready to smile because it will take you on a ride that can only end in the heaven's.

This is bar none - the best compilation of gospel music I have ever heard and that covers decades' worth. But more than the latter is the simple fact that it's Christmas - and many Christians are interested in music that truly represents this most holy time of year. I cannot fathom another collection that would offer such s magnificent Christmas gift to a loved one - including yourself! As a compilation, its value as a best-of-genre is a serious consideration of worth given today's difficult monetary times. I was able, frankly, to purchase this because I cannot afford to buy each and every original album of Dion's magnificent gospel music in that purist sense. Thank goodness Amazon provides such great offers like this one that we can all enjoy. Last but not least is the surprise you may experience as I did with the music itself - laid back, relaxed, elegant, poignant, deep, and...a kind of perfect peace that really does passeth understanding. You'll treasure this gift from God forever....

I loved it. I recomend the other two gospel albums (well 4 actually) Inside Job/Only Jesus AND I Put Away My Idols/Kingdom in the Street.

Get them two instead!
