A Wonderful Introduction,
By A Customer
This review is from: Best Of Guy Lombardo And His Royal Canadians (Audio CD)
Lombardo recorded with both Decca (MCA) and Capitol records. Each has a great catalogue of his work; this CD is a great taste of the mid-50s Capitol (mostly) recordings. It includes some of his biggest hits, and some lovely songs not often found. As a long time Lombardo fan, I recommend it to those who want to introduce themselves to one of the best bands ever to occupy a bandstand. The sound is clear; the arrangements are respectful of both composer and listener. Hopefully, Curb Records will follow up with another album.

This is a lovely, reminiscent collection of music by Guy Lombardo. I purchased this to relive the music my grandmother played many years ago and found the recordings to be clear and true to their intended original sound. The inside jacket cover includes an enjoyable overview of Mr Lombardo's life and musical talents. A real listening pleasure!

"Boo Hoo" on Best of Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians,

This review is from: Best Of Guy Lombardo And His Royal Canadians (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD chiefly for track #8, Boo Hoo. As is often the case, I found the entire CD to be delightful. Boo Hoo is a snappy tune and very camp, from the day before we understood camp to be camp! If you appreciate not-so-big big band music and whimsical lyric, you will enjoy this CD and any of Guy Lombardo's recordings. Trust me, you'll not be crying, "Boo Hoo."
