Buy It,
By Jess "Jess" (Coal Country, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Best of the Best (Audio CD)
I remember hearing Hawkshaw Hawkins coming from my grandfather's Buick radio when I was growing up. Here is an incredible voice that is just plain smooth and full of class. There are very few songs that can ever be truly labelled as classics, and Hawkins' "Lonesome 7-7203" is right up there with Faron Young's "Hello Walls". There are also a handful of old Standards that Hawkshaw makes his own, with "SunnySide of the Mountain" being the best. Overall, a very good album, and one you need to complete any true country music collection.

The Best of Hawkshaw Hawkins,
This review is from: Best of the Best (Audio CD)
I first came across this unknown artist in the mid 1960's while listening to a american shortwave broadcast.Hawkshaw was singing Sunny Side of the Mountain,no body in the UK had even herd of him. So i phoned a record shop in the states and used my (i think)Access card. This CD is identical to the LP i purchased so long ago and it is pleasure to hear The Country Gentleman again
