Comment: This book has already been loved by someone else. It MIGHT have some wear and tear on the edges, have some markings in it, or be an ex-library book. Over-all itâ?TMs still a good book at a great price! (if it is supposed to contain a CD or access code, that may be missing)

This book is the best food guide EVER. I use it everyday before I cook or after I eat to read of the nutritional benefits of my meal. The way the information is introduced is what makes it so great. First, it is catagorized: Fruits, vegetabls, chicken fish seafood, Grains and beans, Herbs and Spices, and Nuts Seeds and Oils. When you find the food you are interested in the breakdown is wonderful. On the the left page it gives the information. First a description of the benefits, then a bulleted list of benefits and then the best preparation to get the most out of the food. The in the side column it has a "did you know" fact and breakdown of major nutrients. On the right page it then gives a great recipe featuring this food Item. I found this book at T.J. Maxx for $4.99 and now coming on Amazon to buy it as a gift for full price! A must have!

This is worth every penny you pay for it!!! I am interested in health food and healthy eating. This breaks down the nutrients of the top 100 health foods and gives a recipe for each item!!! My mom got this book at a used book store and I loved it so i ordered it from Amazon! Definitely add it to you library!!!

I could care less that some of the nutrient amounts may not be totally accurate. It does a fine job of explaining the core importance of the individual foods and health benefits. I also like some of the recipes. Yeah, some of them may be simple, but that just gives opportunity for creativity. I added black beans to the carrot/cumin soup. YUM. What more can you ask for for a book about $5?

you basically get what you pay for with this book (I got mine for $7.00). The nutrition information is WRONG. a few I have noticed: page 12 "avocados" - there is ABSOLUTELY not 22g of protein in one avocado, the official hass avocado website says a medium avocado averages 3-4g protein. secondly: page 144 "navy beans" starts off stating "High-protein navy beans..." but then the nutrition information claims they only have 0.9g protein per 2.25 ounces of dried beans?? actually, a cup of navy beans provides 15.8 grams of protein. I wonder if these are both typos... since one makes the food sound better for you and the other not as much.

I havent tried any of the recipes yet but plan on doing so this week. I will probably post another review to update.

Nice compilation of superfoods along with captions on how they benefit the body. Pictures are perfect...condensed for easy to read reference material.
