Herbie Mann is a jazz giant. His flute pours forth some of the sweetest sounds one would ever want to hear. This aptly-named album is the place in which to start exploring his music. Listening to this is guaranteed to whet the appetite for even more of his work.It includes his most popular work, including "Memphis Underground", "Philly Dog", "A Man and a Woman" (accompanied by that incredibly exciting songstress Tamiko Jones). It also includes the coolest piece of music ever recorded, "Comin' Home Baby". Classic, cool jazz at its finest.

EXCELLENT GLIMPSE OF A MUSICIAN WHO DID MORE FOR THE FLUTE'S POPULARITY AS A JAZZ SOLO INSTRUMENT THAN ANYONE. A FEW REALLY FUNKY GROOVES AS WELL AS HIP MELODIES.

This is a great snipet of a CD. The music is jazzy, snazzy, fun and upbeat but short. Could have been longer for the hefty price.
