5.0 out of 5 stars Black Hills easy hikes
My wife and I go and do a good deal of hiking in national parks and around our home in north central Arizona. Before I go to any of these places I depend on the past experiences of those who have gone before. 3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I've been hiking and camping for over 40 years. I always research the area before any trip. I had hoped this book would help in planning. It was very weak on trail description.

My wife and I go and do a good deal of hiking in national parks and around our home in north central Arizona. Before I go to any of these places I depend on the past experiences of those who have gone before. I usually try to find guides that lay out how the trails are where we are going and more often than not I end up buying one of these Falcon guides. I buy them because they are laid out in such a manner that makes it easy to understand and they choose trails that are more commonly traveled because of their features. There are other more in depth books you can buy. But, for a quick, easy to understand publication this book is hard to beat for the price. Throw it in your day pack and you're set. If you are new to hiking or adventuring in national parks, you will begin to build a library of these guides. The format is consistant in all of the Falcon guides and becomes familiar and easy to use. This particular guide for the Black hills has information on the trails in Custer State Park that even the official guide magazine doesn't cover. We will be bicycle touring the area and taking short hikes along the way. This book is absolutely perfect for this purpose. Like I ssaid before, there are more extensive publications out there but, they aren't called "Easy Day Hikes" either.
