Chewbacca (25 lb pup) and I really enjoyed using the book on the trails! It was nice to know what hiking-obstacles we could expect. The first-aid section for dogs was really great too. If you've got a dog you blaze the trail with... then check this guide out.

I travel around southern Nevada often with my dog. I keep the book in my truck with me, then when I decide to get him out on a trail I just grab Best Hikes With Dogs. There is always a cool dog friendly trail within a few miles of my location. I have never been disappointed. The routes are easy to find and the descriptions don't overestimate roundtrips.

This book is great because it not only tells you which hikes are suitable for dogs, but also offers tips and anecdotes about hiking etiquette, types of breeds suitable for different terrain, etc. Things I would not realize, such as using protection for the paws, are very helpful. Plus it's well written and easy to understand - and anyone who has read hiking books in the past knows that some are more confusing than helpful! Plus, I love all the dog pics....

This book is great, it's so hard to find out about trails in the Las Vegas area (outside of the heavily populated areas). As a bonus, the authors are local and lead hikes every now and then around the valley. The web-site address for the guided hikes is printed in the back of the book.

Thanks to "Best hikes with dogs Las Vegas and Beyond," I am much more adventurous and take my dog to new trails often. Directions to trails and details of terrain have helped me choose which hikes are best suited for my dog and I. The book takes "guessing" out of the equation. A must have for anyone hiking with or without a dog.

I love, love, love this book! It is easy to read and all the hikes I've done (with my two dogs in tow) have been great. I would recommend this book to anyone (even if you don't hike with dogs). It is so hard to find a quality hiking book for this area. This is the BEST!

Whether you are just beginning to venture out or if your are an expert hiker, this book is a MUST for you and your four legged friend, as you begin to explore the desert around Las Vegas. The descriptions of the hikes are enticing and most importantly accurate in terms to difficulty, length and what is needed for preparation before you go. In fact the book provides great information about caring for your dog in the Las Vegas heat and dessert terrain which is asset to anyone with a dog even if you are not a hiker and just plan to stay in the city. However, if you and your "best friend" do plan any hiking or adventure trips this book is a MUST. Lewis and Jacoby-Garret have taken the time and given the attention to detail that will make this book relevant and helpful for hikers in the Las Vegas area for years to come.

I've never been much of a hiker before, but the dog parks here in Vegas are too dirty and crowded to enjoy. I picked up this book and lo and behold there are a lot of easy hikes around the area that are beautifully scenic and let my dog exercise in peace. I also love that the book lets you know which trails you can let your dog off leash on. Well done to the author on a handy and well organized manual for pets and their owners :)

Any one who is going to take their dog on a hike should read this book first. Not only does it give all the info you need to enjoy a hike but it also tells you how your four legged friends can get the most enjoyment from your outdoor adventures. The maps made every thing so easy to find too.

Excellent book. Easy to use, nice format. The information is very important before you head out on a trail with you dog in the desert. Newcomers to southern Nevada would find it extremely beneficial.
