An excellent resource for all who want to explore the outdoors. The color photographs, stories about the area, and hike descriptions, which tell you what to expect on the trail, make it especially suitable for families. This book is informative and fun and inspires you to get outside.”

This is the new standard for guide books. The color photographs and hike descriptions make me feel as though I’m there. The fascinating stories about the history and trivia of the trails make this book as welcome on your coffee table as it is in your backpack.”

Best Hikes Near Austin & San Antonio is fantastic! I learned new things about hikes I’ve done over and over. The stories, local history, photos, and maps are great! A well-organized book that will get a lot of use by me and others in our club.”

Best Hikes Near Austin and San Antonio is an excellent hiking guide to thirty trails around this scenic area. Keith weaves stories throughout the book with information about the local history, geology, plant life, wildlife, birds, and more. The trail descriptions are accurate and informative. This book lists great info and it is laid out very well. Good maps, pictures and trail info. I especially like that it states canine capability info. I was a little disappointed at the lack of central, west Austin and hill country trails listed. Those looking for a more comprehensive guide might look elsewhere.

This is a good book to get you started with hiking around this area. My timing for hikes was somewhat different and my grade of whether the hike was "easy" or not was a little different but everybody's different.
