Hollies still sound hot,
By
This review is from: Best of the Hollies: Air That I Breathe (Audio CD)
This IS one of the most comprehensive compilation of the Hollies' UK hits with every track, apart from the final one, having entered the UK charts. All, apart from "Stay" from 1963, are in stereo, I don't know why "Stay" isn't since a stereo mix does exist. What you get with the Hollies is simple, catchy, goodtime music, nothing heavy or preachy. And, despite the fact many of these cuts are almost 40 years old, they still sound good today. Whatever your age or background, give this a try. Incidentally, the band is still around and touring the UK this year. I saw them a couple of years ago and they still sounded fantastic.

ALL THE BEST!!! INCREDIBLE COLLECTION!!,

This review is from: Best of the Hollies: Air That I Breathe (Audio CD)
This cd is simply a treasure for every fan of Rock and Roll, Pop music, 60's nostalgia and for all the lovers of excellent music; all the great Hollies' songs are here, from the catchy BUS STOP (my favorite) to the ethereal THE AIR THAT I BREATHE (their most beautiful and magical song); their number one hits I'M ALIVE and HE AIN'T HEAVY, HE'S MY BROTHER (what a wonderful ballad, one of their best works), their excellent own compositions like CARRIE ANNE (great), ON A CARROUSEL and STOP STOP STOP (incredible way to play the banjo), many highlights like JUST ONE LOOK, YES I WILL, SORRY SUZANNE, LOOK THROUGH ANY WINDOW and their "country-like" LONG COOL WOMAN IN A BLACK DRESS (another great number); If you like the Hollies, the well inspirated music and 60's nostalgic sounds, this cd is for you!!

The Hollies, You're Talking About Manchester's Finest Band!,
By
This review is from: Best of the Hollies: Air That I Breathe (Audio CD)
During the British Invasion of the mid 1960s The Hollies (named after Buddy Holly) followed in the footsteps of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Searchers.I'm not suggesting they are in the same league as the first two, but not far away from The Searchers, which is praise as far as I am concerned. There is almost two Hollies, pre 1968's King Midas In Reverse and after that song when Graham Nash quit, as much over the band doing an album of Bob Dylan covers, as any other reason. From their earlier period good stuff includes Just One Look, I Can't Let Go and Carrie Anne. In the 1970s came even better recordings such as The Air That I Breath and Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress. Only one or two songs are below par, for example Jennifer Eccles has not stood the test of time, but overall this is a good overview of a solid band who made happy sounding pop/harmony/rock.
