As a belly dancer, this is one of the most-used sources I have for teaching my dance classes and for picking various performance pieces.

Ramzy is a Great Musician to Introduce You to M. E. Music,
By
This review is from: Best of Hossam Ramzy (Audio CD)
If you like Hossam Ramzy, you won't go wrong with this. If you like contemporary Middle Eastern music, you'll love Ramzy! There are so many terrific selections a dancer could choose from, but it's also wonderful contemporary Middle Eastern music, that is a pleasure to hear. If you've never heard Ramzy before, this would be a nice beginning to what will surely become a complete collection. What I like best about Ramzy is that he doesn't use huge amounts of electronic music to shore up a modern sound. He manages to use traditional instruments in a fresh and contemporary way. But they could only come up with 10 songs for a "best of"?!

This is an essential CD for everyone!,
This review is from: Best of Hossam Ramzy (Audio CD)
This is an excellent CD, and one that I would highly recommend to anyone and beginners especially as it contains a range of different styles of music with tracks from ten of Hossam's albums, all lovingly recorded by Hossam and his ensemble. It has some of the most tracks by the great legends of Arabic music such as "Khusara Khusara" by Abdul Halim Hafiz and "Gamil Gamal" by Farid El Atrash; both great for beginners or intermediates with very clear distinctions between the orchestra and soloing instruments; "Enta Omri - Part III" by Oum Kalthoum which makes a lovely introduction to the Arab world's most legendary and popular singer's music and is of course one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever to perform to; the ever popular and highly addictive "Aziza" by Mohammed Abdul Wahab; as well as the famous Saaidi folklore tune "Sallam Allay" - again a superb practice or performance piece for beginners to get to know the SAAIDI rhythm ; "Eshta" - a really great drum solo; and some of Hossam and his ensemble's own compositions; "Bamoot Feeki" and the soulful "Sehr Oyunik" again really beautiful performance pieces for beginners and intermediates; "Mawwal El-Oshaa" a interesting jazzy piece of Rai style music played by the late great trumpeter Samy El-Babli which will give intermediates and more advanced dancers a different style of music to try; and "Night Foal" - learn to recognise the sounds of traditional instruments such as the rebaba (one bowed violin) and the mizmar (member of the clarinet family that has an immediately recognisable sound). This is the first CD I ever bought, and it is one of my favourites. This is an essential CD for those looking for an introduction to Arabic music and performers and teachers alike. I guarantee you won't be able to resist dancing to this album!

Makes you want to move,
By Basbenee (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Best of Hossam Ramzy (Audio CD)
This is the first Bellydance-oriented CD I bought and so far it's my favorite. Every song is wonderful, and the variations are excellent too. Some tracks are very flowing and romantic, some very melancholy, full of longing, and some are just packed with drums and rhythm that make you want to move. On top of that the production quality sounds a lot better than some other CDs I have, and so far, Ramzy's work stands at the top of my list for bellydance music.

Newcomers to Arabic music - TAKE HEED!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Best of Hossam Ramzy (Audio CD)
This is probably the best CD to get if you want to start exploring Arabic music. The songs vary in rythmn and style, so you get a little taste of everything. Esp. pay attention to the Arabian lute in song number 4, it is simply entrancing. A wonderful intro to Arabic sounds- and the epitome of my collection.

I'm not a belly dancer; I just got this mp3 download album because I enjoy middle eastern music. I love this compilation which is my first introduction to Hossam Ramzy.
My favorite track is #2. Sallam Allay (My Beloved Greeted Me). I use this music as background music when I'm doing personal routines like showering and getting ready for bed. Also occassionally after getting up while washing my face and putting on make-up. The music is both relaxing and energetic which is amazing. It really puts me in a good mood.

Simply the Best,
This review is from: Best of Hossam Ramzy (Audio CD)
I completely enjoyed this cd. It was suggested by my bellydance teacher. It's a great compilation of all of Hossam's music, I even learned the name of the song I had been hearing Enta Omri, which is my favorite. The songs on here are great for not only learning the dance steps i.e. mayas, but also for drum solos too. I recommend this to anyone who starting out with bellydancing.

This is a great CD with lots of variety and good energy in all of the songs - even the slower paced songs feel like they have just the right amount of power to them, and there are lots of good songs for a belly dance routine.
