Yet Another Capitol/EMI "Cheapo" Gem,
By AvidOldiesCollector (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Best of Ike & Tina Turner (Audio CD)
I have already given kudos to a number of other volumes in this budget series from Capitol/EMI [The Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Young-Holt Unlimited, Tennessee Ernie Ford, etc], and this one is almost every bit as good as the others. As a duet Ike and Tina Turner delivered 20 Billboard Pop Hot 100 hit singles [25 on the R&B charts] between 1960 and 1975, and here you get seven of them, the only non-hits being track 4, which is a 1973 remake of the classic 1969 River Deep, Mountain High, track 9, which gives you Part 2 of Sexy Ida, whereas it was Part 1 that charted in 1974, and Acid Queen [track 10]. However, unlike some of the releases in the series, this one has a single page of liner notes and, as with the others, the sound quality is excellent. Three legitimate hits in place of those mentioned above would have turned this little gem into a 5-star purchase. Even at that, at the price asked you can't go wrong. Ike and Tina, as a duo, were elected to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1991, and in 2005 Ike was inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame.

as I've said in the title of this article, she is the Queen, the only one for me. This CD shows the brillant career she will have later....and the words are not enough. From deep inside I told you.....the best R&B singer in the world!
